Luck has a funny way of regressing to the mean at the worst possible times. Just ask the undefeated in one score game Vikings or even last years Panthers. For as good as Boston is, and I’m not taking anything away from them, they’ve been far and away the luckiest team in the league, while Florida has been among the unluckiest.

Panthers in 6

How did you quantify luck?

The biggest wildcard the Panthers have is Barkov's unlocked playoff potential. If he becomes violent, he could tilt the series. He makes like one hit per season and leaves guys hurting. He was drafted to become a playoff beast, thus far, he has never reached that potential. If he does now, and doesn't get stuck playing defense 24/7 while the ship sinks, Panthers will have a chance to upset the B's. But it's a tall order asking for something that's never happened before.

Oh man I think even think of that. I hope Tkachuk rattles tf out of Marchand.

I wonder if the 2 do try and play some tactics on each other
I'd actually be happy with that. Marchand has had a tough year and if those two cancel each other out that is definitely in the Bruins favour.

Point wise maybe but probably not talent wise. We have seen some fairly big upsets point wise over the years but some of those there is more to the story. I still think DET losing to SJ in 94 is the biggest R1 upset the last 30 years even though many cases exist of bigger point spread upsets. FLA has an experienced coach, was basically the top seed just last year, and has tons of offensive talent and BOS while good probably is realistically not a 60 plus win team...we can all agree the 95-96 Wings and the recent Bolts teams were probably on paper way way WAY better than this BOS team is...they just had one of those years.
One of those years being the best ever in the history of the nhl? Yup one of those years I guess.

Could Tkachuck vs Marchand be an epic matchup?

Anyone has any idea if coaches will seek or avoid their respective lines being on at the same time?

I'd bet Montgomery has that lined up so the Panthers top line is against Marchand-Bergeron-DeBrusk.

That way, Pastrnak-Krejci-Zacha, Hall-Coyle-Bertuzzi have the opportunity to do all the scoring.

Not that it matters because the Bruins are great on the road but Florida's crowd and in general Miami sports crowds are rather pathetic. So expect a huge advantage for the B's in that favor in this series too.

Bruins crowd is almost the gold standard while the Panthers crowd is on the opposite end of the spectrum.
Comparing an original 6 team to a team playing in South Florida that has only came close to 1 Stanley Cup in roughly 30 years while never making a noteworthy playoff run since then is kind of pathetic. I went to 2 games their last year and the atmosphere was fine , they were weekday games and the arena wasn't full but that building does get loud. Their fans seemed pretty loyal for having to endure alot of years of a mediocre team. If the Bruins had the same resultd as the Panthers the last 20 years up until latley I'm sure that fanbase would not be as strong.

I got the Bruins in 5. Panthers have the firepower to win a game, but the only way I think they have a chance to do better than that is if Bob has the series of his life.

Barkov can't spell intensity and is soft as a pillows which is a big part of Panthers playoff issues with no 2nd round wins in the past 25 years.

I think it will be Tkachuk and Lyon who win the series not Barkov.

I wonder what the cost comparison is for tickets in the lower bowl at TD Garden vs. a round trip flight to Miami, hotel, and tickets to the Panthers game is.

I bet games 3 and 4 have a lot of Bruins fans in the crowd

Like Lyon's luck could run out at the worst possible time? Winning 65 games is luck? You need to see a shrink
You’re taking what I said as an insult to Boston when it’s not. They overperformed their expected metrics by a lot. That’s just a fact.

Go to a Panthers home playoff game and tell me if you still think this is true

Tkachuk will have to play hockey instead of trying to be a shit disturber if the Panthers want any hope of winning a game . Tkachuk is a damn good player but can be a Shithead.
Panthers have a decent amount of talent but at the end of the day , B’s depth will be too much to handle . It comes down to head to head battles with lines matching up against one another . I just think the Bruins lines 3/4 will outplay the Panthers bottom 6 enough to win the series .

Lyon gives me "HELD BY HOLTBY" vibes, but it'll still be the Bruins in 5. Florida's defense just isn't good enough, and they're up against the best defense and one of the best offenses in hockey. Offense alone won't win you this series imo.
