what u trying to prove?? The jets were a terrible team for the last 10 years or so (including thrashers). You would expect them to have higher first round picks and a higher emphasis on the future relative to a team like the bruins who just recently started struggling but no where close to being so bad like posters here think they are. They have yet to draft in the top 10 since what, kessel?? Seguin was a leaf pick originally.

Well, the poster I was responding to claimed the teams were similar in age, and I pointed out that claim was incorrect. Hope that helps.

I don't care about the Thrashers. The team the Jets inherited from them however had basically no organizational depth behind a few NHL players, a bunch of filler, and nothing in the tank; so management played the long-game and drafted their own depth. They struggled last year when they went young and lost their #1C to a neck injury, and then got competitive late when the young players became acclimatized to new roles.

The Jets also have burgeoning depth now however, and no longer need the sort of pieces usually offered in these threads, including in this one. That is what I am "trying to prove", that if Boston wants Trouba, then they'd need to send a reasonable facsimile back in return, and since they don't have one, this trade probably would never come to fruition. The Jets no longer need to take a step back; they are moving forward now.

What I said was that outside of the difference in age between Chara and Byfuglien they are very close in age, well, because they are. You are the one calling Boston "aging", can a team that is roughly 6 months older on average be that much different that one team is "aging" and one isn't? Boston is going to have a few rookies this year that is also going to drop their average age. They are not that different in age, Boston has one extra player at or over 28 than Winnipeg does, two counting the backup goaltender. That is not a huge difference in age.

The Bruins were in the middle of the pack age-wise, while the Jets were among the youngest - and likely were the youngest to finish the season, in a league trending younger by the year. Your team is reliant upon those older players; the Jets conversely have been replacing their older players with young guys for the past few years. That is ongoing. Guys like Stuart, Pavelec, Thorburn, some or all of them won't make it past the coming training camp; some others may be kept solely to be exposed in the expansion draft (and dumped if unclaimed). How do you think the two teams will compare in age after that?

We are injecting a lot of youth through drafting, but we generally rank too high in the standings to be lucky enough to draft so high.
Yeah, when is the last time the Bruins picked a 2OA where the Jets got Laine? The Jets got Scheifele 7OA, when's the last time the Bruins picked anywhere close to that? Do you think guys like Kyle Connor are still going to be on the board when the Bruins pick?

Oh wait, the Bruins had picks as high or higher than the Jets 3 of the last 6 drafts...

reading what ur fans are posting, it seems like no team has the pieces what the jets need... Rask is not an upgrade over their two back ups (on most teams they are)?

The Jets have one of the best goal-tending prospects in the NHL and even Ondrej Pavelec had a better adjusted sv % last year than Rask. They have no need to trade for an older more expensive goaltender who doesn't even fit their age profile.

What a **** show this thread is.

Clearly the Bruins match up better with other teams.

But, honestly, I went from thinking its great for the NHL for a small Canadian city franchise to have a bright future to hoping all the Jets prospects bust and that Tyler Myers becomes a LTIR headache for the next half decade.

I think the problem is that maybe American fans think Jets fans are push overs or suckers because we're from a mid sized Canadian City, small compared to many American cities. Keep the attitude, and hate on your side of the border, please and thank you.

Just like other NHL cities, our fans hold our prospects and franchise players in high esteem and think trade proposals where we give away our future insulting.

In the stables we have Hellebuyck and Comrie for Goalies eliminating a need or a want to bring or trade for one now or in the immediate future. Many Jets fans feel Hellebuyck is ready now and Comrie in the next 2 years.

Would the jets trade Myers for a left handed defenseman ? Most fans would, but they don't want quantity, they are looking for a 1 for 1 trade with a minor add if needed, not some other franchises garbage. That being said it would only make sense to consider a trade dealing with Myers close to the trade deadline, so other teams could see there was no short term or long term problems from his surgeries. Eliminating the injury excuse to trade him for nothing.

Some American franchise fans seem to think Trouba should be traded away for magical beans and Jets fans should say thank you. Sorry that we aren't that gullible. Most fans are more and willing to wait and see how the "process" turns out between management and agent before saying the sky is falling. But really it isn't. Trouba is a RFA and his options are limited.

The Jets don't need forwards, we got the kids/prospects banging on the door, they want to play, heck we need to find a way to get rid of some old veterans. WE WILL take magic beans for Stuart, Strait, Pavs, Peluso, and Thorburn to make room for some of the young guns.

If some of the Jets fans come off as strong or bull headed, or even unreasonable, well you can only hear so many bad trade offers and be level headed. We as fans are just about as calm and even keeled as most other NHL fan bases.

The Jets make poor trading partners with most teams right now. Have to wait and see how training camp turns out.

Don't you think the Bruins average age is going to go down when they end up with a few rookies playing this season?

They are not that different in age outside of Chara.

A big part of the reason why threads like this turn into a big mess is because some people insist on calling other teams offers "magic beans". Really? A 1st, a player drafted in the first round, plus a player who was one point away from cracking 50 points while playing 3rd line minutes is not "magic beans'. Spooner would have been 4th on the Jets in scoring.

If that doesn't fit what the Jets would be looking for that is one thing but to call it "magic beans" is pretty ridiculous.

That is a damn good offer value wise if the Jets were looking to move Trouba and if they aren't looking to move him then they aren't going to be interested whether those players fit the bill or not.

Can the jets really expect to contend with laine, connor, ehlers on the LW?? They barely have any experience. Who will play both ways of the ice? Who plays PK?
Jets dont have a good pk team nor a good defensive team.

The thing is the Jets don't want to trade Trouba. If they did it would need to be a 1 for 1 for a similar young LD.

Nobody is calling the Bruins players bad. They just don't fit the criteria wanted if the Jets are trading Trouba. If the Jets don't find someone who meets that criteria, then we're more than happy to keep Trouba.

They are though; that is why your team is middle of the pack age-wise while the Jets were among the youngest. You added Backes this season. Again, your team is reliant upon your old guys.

Myers just turned 26; he is hardly old. Wheeler, Little, & Buff are the only ones that will be left standing here. The rest are mostly bit players. Peluso & Strait are pressbox guys in case of injuries. Enstrom was said available in trade last season. Stafford is likely done at the end of this year when his contract expires. Thorburn, Stuart, Pavelec, Peluso, some of them probably won't last beyond training camp. Maurice has already said the Jets might start as many as 4 more rookies this season.

I've just never come into a trade thread with as much ************* as this one. Anaheim gets just as many dumb threads regarding Lindholm (probably worse, really), and this certainly was another thread that put no thought into the other teams needs, but those threads never come off like this. I realize one or two posters don't speak for a fanbase, a fanbase I am happy exists again, but some self policing might be in order.

A first 2 years from now. It would have to be a first for 2017, not 2018. There were even fans from diff franchises commenting on that.

Spooner had a good season, BUT we have a lot of prospects ready to step in, Connor, Laine, Dano, and our need as good as Spooner was, isn't offense. It's left Defense and the offer hurts the Jets short term. Jakub Zboril could be as good or even better than Trouba down the road. One never knows. But Zboril has never played a NHL game and Trouba already plays heavy minutes. The Jets franchise wants to take a step forward, fans are getting restless, this trade puts them back a step, even if it's short term.

In my opinion, this might have been a great offer a year ago. The Jets simply want to keep Trouba and move forward now instead of waiting another year or two to start pushing forward towards playoff hopes. If there was a trade to be made with any team the effect would have to be on ice positive immediately and defensive in nature. Left side.

As far as magic beans, this wasn't so much directed at this trade proposal but some in the past for Trouba. But waiting a few years to see if Zboril reaches his potential and getting a 1st not for 2017 but 2018, when we both believe the Bruins will have a stronger season due to draft and development giving the Jets a poorer 1st round pick, does feel a little like magic beans too me. A wait and see and cross your fingers for the Jets. The Jets are hopefully past the stage of waiting and seeing and not wanting to trade Trouba.
I could have been less dramatic and not used words like magic beans. I'm sorry.

I said that we ->generally<- don't get to pick that high. Fun fact: the Boston Bruins, from the 1967-68 season have missed the playoffs 7 (SEVEN) times out of 48 (FORTY-EIGHT) seasons. That is a 85.42% playoffs participation in the last half century. Do you think that it would be a reasonable statement to say that we do not get to pick very high because generally we are up there in the standings? I do. If you don't, explain why.

Furthermore, the Winnipeg Jets, including their previous iteration as the Atlanta Thrashers, (fun fact alert) have participated to 2 (TWO) playoffs out of 16 (SIXTEEN) seasons. That is a 12.5% playoffs participation ratio in your history. That, when compared to our 41of48 / 85.42% playoffs participation ratio, leads me to the conclusion that you, generally speaking again, have way more chances to pick much better picks than we do. You don't think so? Pray tell, why is that?

And let's not kid yourself with the Seguin and Hamilton picks. Those were trade-generated, so lucky (for us) anomalies. Not established trends by any means. On the contrary to you, who seem to be used to pick high relatively often because you missed the playoffs pretty much constantly. Do not agree? Here's a golden chance to again explain why. Go ahead.

no what is established trends is trading seguin and Hamilton for nothing. that takes ingenuity.

To Boston- Trouba
To Winnipeg- Spooner +Zorbil+2018 1st

Flame away
Pastarnak, Zboril and a 1st in 2017 for Myers, Trouba isn't for sale.

The bruins should hire a GM that doesn't want Connor or Barzal when given the chance.... oh, wait.

Wow, That's the worst proposal I have seen on these boards in a while.

It's amazing how the Jets have all these top paring dmen and 1st line forwards scattered throughout their lineup and yet still finished in the basement.

Probably the most overrated team in the league.

My way of saying you have nothing we want for Trouba. Go bother the Ducks for Lindholm. The Bruins fans are the most arrogant ones on here. You had a D man in Hamilton and let him go. Why? So you can trade away players and prospects for someone's D man? Go learn how to draft for God's sake.
