Post-Game Talk: Boiled in Oil

I don’t mind the play being blown dead for the mask, but Quick wasn’t extended the same courtesy when his glove came off and the opposition flung it into the corner and it cost a goal earlier in the season. I guess it’s apple to oranges though, idk anymore.

That's so overblown.

Teams on average perform less than 0.10 points per game worse on a back to back. Half the teams in the league perform better in that situation than not.

It's statistically meaningless, and the statistic is wins.

What are the variables: does it include both teams playing back-to-back? Only one team?

And no: I'm pinning this loss on us for playing very lackdastical and trying to be cute against a team who also was down in the 3rd and scored 4 goals.

Not for nothing but the Rangers were the better team for the majority of the game. Basically just imploded in the first 10 minutes of the third but outside of that they were the better team. Need to eliminate these mini and major implosions. It seems even in good games we’re still far too prone to giving up consecutive goals in in short order. The Oilers scored all of their goals in like 8 minutes, the first 3 in three and change.

This is a game where you’re really really really missing Chytil and Kakko. A game like this where you’re controlling play for most of it, if you have those guys the depth is far better and you most likely have a bigger lead than 1-0 going into the third and even if it was 1-0 with them coming over the board for their usual shifts, everyone is in the right spot and you can rely on your depth to not get stomped on.

I don't know what all the variables are, Bill Nye.

I know that teams playing a back to back don't win any less than teams not doing that.

It just seems like another excuse to be miserable.

Well, I did say how certain players played like shit tonight, but you just saw your boytoy getting shit flung in his face and thought vegan=bad!

Let's talk about the French Canadian elephant in the room, Laff. And don't anyone dare cite his assist to defend him. This team needs him to play like he was earlier ..was a ghost tonight and frankly Bread doesn't deserve that. I break up that line and try something different.

Because the same sadsacks that always rack up their post count after a loss always bring up Zibanejad.

It's not me who's obsessed with the guy.

He played like shit. Along with Panarin. Along with Kreider. Along with Lindgren.

2 points doesn't absolve him from constantly flubbing on the puck, again doing nothing on a 2-on-1 with Kreider, and buggling the puck which lead to an Oilers goal.

If there’s one positive to take from the third period it’s that I’m going to the game tomorrow and they will almost certainly be fired up now.

I remember when AV teams were unbeatable on the second game of back to backs.

Ok, so he played like shit. That's hockey. That's life. The team is going to lose some games.
