McClement -8 that's great for being a defensive guy. Funny how this guy's play never gets called out. He sucks.

Bolland is the guy I would most like to keep from that group. If we can't keep Bolland I would want to keep McClement or Kuli...the rest can walk.

I'd look at keeping:

Bodie
Ranger
Kuli
Bolland

all at the right price of course.

McClement can get lost... I've had enough of this bird and his stone hands. His best asset is allegedly the penalty kill but we stand 28/30 in that ranking. Of course he's not the only one responsible but he's a big part considering it's his specialty area.

I'm kind of borderline on Kulemin too. He's certainly regressing and needs to turn it around fast.

I would love to find a way to keep Bolland but he may be to expensive. Bodie is a good 4th liner but the rest can go and if Kuli goes to Pitt and all of sudden becomes a star, well that's life.

Ranger I would keep if we get rid of Franson. Decent enough for a 5-6 d-man that can fill up. But we need a #2 or #3 guy so that he doesn't have to play tough minutes.

McClement I would let go if we keep Bolland. But if we keep Bolland I get rid of McClement and play a young center in the #4 hole. One or the other in my mind.

Bodie can stay or go, doesn't matter he will be making under 950k, and can just go up and down between the AHL and NHL as needed.

I'd like to keep Kulemin, but I know he will be gone to somewhere which actually gives him people that can help him score.

Raymond is gone. He's in the spot that we should be playing a young cheap winger from our own system.

I thought pretty hard about this. Everyone has a point about these players being mostly fringe. The only acception is Bolland. He's something that is not on the Marlies or can be found easily in the UFA market.

No don't sign him for more than 4.25.

Penalty kill specialist, yet we are 3rd last in the league. I don't want him back even at league minimum contract. He may not be the problem, he certainly isn't the solution. Time to move on.

Damn right it is Marco.

Grabo legit top 6 return 0 expense 15m

CMac legit top 6 return 0

Colborne return 4th used for other plug

Bolland 3 picks rental 20 game played probable 0 return on investment did not even help us secure playoff spot.

Komarov failed negotiation 0 return

Holland a Colborne equiv. cost 3x as much as Colborne

Raymond rental no real cap to resign probable return of 0

Kulemin probable return 0

Clarkson untradeable anchor probable return and net value 0 or -5.25m

Ryan O'Byrne yep value 0 cost a pick

Reimer TBD

Franson TBD

That's some mighty bit of smooth right there I tell ya.

Ps. Nonis is a freaking butcher!

:handclap: Well said and my thoughts exactly. I'm tired of this continuing. Every team, rebuilding or perennial contender gains some kind of assets from a good number of the players they don't think they will be resigning. For some reason this just isn't in the cards for the leafs regardless of who is in charge. I've thought this for a long time, but it really puts it in perspective when you see a list of recent history compiled like that.

Who can replace his 19 goals? :dunno:
RE: Raymond.

Leivo. I think he will turn some heads if he's actually given a chance to play in a scoring role for a reasonable amount of time.

Bodie should be kept. He'll be cheap, and brings full effort everytime (unlike most of the team). There's all this talk about culture change... I realize Bodie doesn't play a significant enough role to be a huge factor in a culture change, but the way he brings it every game he's a factor in the right direction. That's what we need around our young guys regardless of the role he plays.

You need guys who bring full effort like Bodie. If you don't have some guys who bring full effort night in night out, it hurts the teams development because it brings the message that its okay to lose and not try. If your a lazier player you better have the skill to be able to take over a game.

Re-sign Kulemin, Bodie, and Bolland.

McClement: under $1M/year then re-sign but absolutely not more

Raymond: if we can't find a suitor for Clarkson then let Raymond walk

Ranger: let him walk, we have enough D to fill the role

Bodie - Sign
Kuli - Get what we can in a Pittsburgh trade. Promote Jerry
McClement - Sign, shouldn't cost too much
Ranger - Walk
Bolland - Attempt to get him for a reasonable deal. Wont happen. Walk

Since I've been crying about the lack of defensive forwards on this team, I'd have to say sign Bolland,Kulemin,Bodie and McClement.
Then we need to upgrade Raymond and Lupul with better 2-way forwards.

Raymond: Depending on salary demands, I'd do anything around 1.8-2.5, even though he's really soft and I personally don't like him, I don't think we have anyone in the Marlies to replace his production (~20G, 26A, ~45-50pts)

Bodie: Easily resign, give him the 4th line role. If injuries happen, could probably move to the 3rd line. Probably cost us less than 1M

Kuli: Love the guy, he's been great defensively, but probably gonna walk. He's too expensive to keep and I see Komarov taking his minutes for half the pay. Best of luck though, if he decides to give a hometown discount, I'd love to have him back.

McClement: PKer, was used too much this season, but still a pretty good piece to have. 1.5 again would be great, maybe 1.8. Unfortunately 2 is too much for a 4th liner.

Ranger: Perfect fit here. He likes TO (more so because of family reasons I believe), and isn't a bad 3rd line pairing guy, or a 7th Dman. Would love to have him back, anything between 1M-1.5 would seem fair, and ofc a NTC.

Bolland: Depends on salary demands. Defintely dont want him here long-term, max I'd do is 3-4 years, and a salary of 3.5-4.5, even though that's not something I'd like :/ Disappointing to see our draft picks thrown away, but oh well...you win some you lose some

So what the heck do we do about all the picks we spent on Bolland. How do you lose him? And you can't lose Kules for nothing I mean seriously, and with Raymond gone who fills the CMac void now?
Help!

Cut your losses and move on. Replace the entire bottom six from within & spend the money on D.

Re-sign Kulemin , Bodie and McClement if the price is reasonable.

Wouldn't mind Raymond if the cap hit is okay.

Bolland is good but will likely demand too much for it to make sense.

Wouldn't bother me either way with Ranger.

Something like: Mcclement and Bodie each for 2 more years at 2.5 M and 850 K respectively, and Ranger for 3 more years at 2 M per. Let Bolland, Raymond and Kulimen walk.

Bodie sucks, he can go or sign a two-way. Yes he's big but what does he do with it? He can't hit, he's a below average middleweight, can't score. The way I see it there's no point taking a roster spot on a "physical presence" who isn't physical. Someone like Komarov can actually be effective in that role but not Bodie. And play Orr and/or McLaren to make up for the lack of size, true toughness that can intimidate and who's presence is felt on the ice

Raymond - Nope. I'll take 10 goals from Lievo or someone on ELC who knows what to do in his own zone

Bodie - Bring him back at under $1M
Kuli - Bring him back if under $3M, which probably won't happen
McClement - Indifferent; our PK hasn't exactly been world class with him
Ranger - Sure, at a bargain
Bolland - I'd like him back, but not if he wants to go big this off season

It's fine to say you'd keep them/get rid of them... but at what cost?

Raymond - take him or leave him, his speed isn't as great as it once was
Bodie - keep for $750k
Kuli - take him or leave him, I'd keep him for around $1.5M
McClement - ship em out
Ranger - ship em out, need to improve the D
Bolland - take him or leave him, I think around $2.5M is fair

What do you think Nonis will do to our D?

Raymond will get bigger $$$$ from someone like Calgary
Kulemin needs a change and will get bigger $$$$ probably from Pitts or LA
Bodie will get another 2 way for cheap deal and stay
McClement will resign at 2-2.5yr
Ranger is gone
Bolland will resign depending who the new coach is and term most likely Kadri gets traded
Franson is all but gone to some sucka
Reimer is traded to Wpg

JVR-Boz-Kess
Lup-Boll-?
Carter-Holl-Clarks
Bodi-McClem-D'Ami

Rielly-Phan(could be traded)
Gards-Gunn
Gleas- Granberg/Holzer/Brennan

Kadri will be traded for either ROR or Shea Webber of coarse there will be additions to get those players but that IMO

Bodie: Sign for cheap (<1 mil)
Ranger: Sign for about 1 mil for 2 years
Kulimen: Please sign him. I'd like to see him back next year but for no more than 3.5-4 mil
Raymond: Walk.
Bolland: I'd like to see him sign a 1 to 2 year deal for 2.5 mil if possible, probably won't happen.
McClement: Walk.

I sure hope we have a Nyqvist sitting down there because boy are we ever going to need it.
