St Louis didn’t look very good. Wonder if they had a bunch of guys sick as well, no energy in their game.

I like this iteration of the Leafs better than the normal iteration.

More boring, sure, but neat and tidy.

I'd resign Tavares to be a third line center at most, if he'll take third line center money. Marner, on the other hand, has got to go. Toxic playstyle.

Leafs worked hard. Didn't give them much time. And the Leafs played a very simple game. Much more North/South than East/West. They attacked with speed and managed to get some time in the cycle. Really enjoyed them around the net all night long.

Thought the forwards were excellent in back checking tonight. Not something we always get to see from this team.

I enjoyed that game tonight.

Anyone who isn’t happy for McMann needs to check if they have a pulse.

Way to step up.

I hope Treliving watched how this team played when certain players were not playing tonight.

We have some gamers on this team. We just need to get more players and less BFFs who still want to play like they are in Junior.

Energized players like Robby, Bertuzzi, Domi, Steeves, McMann are what this team needs Obviously don’t expect the offence from some but that’s the level energy guys trying to prove they belong should be giving every night. Great win.

With two (well three including Jarnkrok) these guys are hungry to prove themselves for a regular spot. And this opportunity gave them more ice time than they’d normally get.

The speed, straight line routes and back checking, short crisp passes were noticeable and refreshing for one night at least. Don’t think it’s a coincidence that two of our slow it down guys were out of the lineup or how their pacing can disrupt flow.

A lot of guys looked more assertive jumping up in the pecking order. McCabe was as really feeling himself and Robertson looks so good. I wouldn’t say it’s sustainable but for one night you could see a different look with a lot of the same guys with a little bit to prove. Big night for McMann. Asserted himself in a big way.
Good post. Agreed.

They spent their whole off-day in Montreal yesterday. They probably had some team building activities there and emptied their tank.

Brodie’s best game of the season. He’s so much stronger on the left side. They really need a defensive D like Schenn was with Rielly to really get the most out of our defense.

Solid game when everyone is buying in. Nice to see McMann get rewarded, hopefully it’s Bert next time.

Yeah, Brodie was really solid. After a rare bad performance in Ottawa, McCabe and Benoit bounced back nicely. Easy'ish (it's never easy) night for Sammy. I know Bert can't seem to score, but at least he's generating chances; good stuff will start happening (see McMann).

I don't think he is good in all honesty. And I think having him play makes us a slower, more hesitant team. What I saw tonight, and it's only one game, made me realize, I don't see where we would miss him.
Agreed

We aren’t gonna cater to him as much when he’s on the third line and I sure as hell wouldn’t give him pp1 for anything past maybe next year, knies should take that role soon enough

Without the pp he loses a lot of effectiveness and wit lower line mates we could see a 35-45 point center who isn’t great defensive player either

Matthews and Nylander are locked in for medium-long term

Marner would probably stay, I don't know if he's toxic in the locker room

Tavares though, you can do so much with his 11M.
