Love it when they come back in the 3rd - it's as if they have another gear saved for such occasions.

Top line was on tonight and most of the rest played well.

Rangers came to play tonight - seems they all want to beat our Jets when they come visit.

Prop's to Tavev - no quit in that boy!

Even the teams at the bottom of the standings are coming at the Jets hard.

No easy games.

Post-game audio:

Players - Wheeler, Scheifele, Copp and Hellebuyck.

Coach Maurice scrum topics: Summing up the win. On Mark Scheifele's game. How would he describe the way Andrew Copp has handled the adjustment to the 4th line? His assessment of the power play. What did he think of the play Wheeler makes on the second Jets goal?

You get him going by having him on the ice for 75% of your PP minutes, the one situation where he unequivocally moves the needle in a positive direction for the team.
I don't necessarily disagree, but at some point he needs to do his part. He has to move his feet and work to create space. He just can't stand there and wave his stick like magic will happen. I think Maurice will be very generous with opportunity once Laine starts making the effort to fight through his slump.

Just rewatched the last 2 mins that hook on Conner couldn't have been more o vious or blatant. Sigh, it would just almost be better of they came out and said we are going to screw you over because your a Canadian team your just going to have to deal with it.

I will give the Winnipeg media credit for this... they have asked about the PP in almost every media availability since Maurice made the changes. I hope they keep this up.

At first I was mildly concerned, but now it is getting to the point that he is dragging down those around him. Maybe just put him with Lowry and Tanev and maybe things bounce loose for him?

I think that’s what I would do. Right now I think it’s more important not to drag others down.
If he was just snake-bitten it would be one thing, but if we’re being honest, his whole game is really weak and has been for a long time now.

???

We've tried nothing. It's been C-S-W, L-L-R and P-L-T for over a month now.

Maurice has quite literally not tried a single thing except demoting Laine off PP1 and making the PP worse.

Absolutely nothing? Then I need to give my head a shake. I could have sworn there was at least minimal attempts to play Laine other than with Little and Roslovic this year.

Anyone know of a website that tracks "player-with-player" time?

The Minnesota Wild have dominated us all season.

I do not consider them an easy out at this point.
The thing is we aren't likely to meet them in the 1st round unless we end up 1st over all in the western conference and they hold off the rest of the also rans for the 2nd Wild Card spot.

Sure, but regular season records don't usually matter once playoffs start. I'm not at all worried about the Wild in the playoffs.

PP1 is his best opportunity to get something going - we could be waiting awhile 5v5.

It's interesting that Mo is digging in on this one - I thought he'd be back on the PP1 by now.
Another point I noticed tonight is Laine's minutes in the last half of the 3rd - wasn't much there and that means Mo doesn't trust Laine in tight situations (and ironically now trusts the 4th in those same situations) -
My how times have changed.

Anyway, we need Laine back - he needs to engage. Take your man, play a little puck pursuit, hit someone, get involved - stop watching.

And Mo needs to give him anther shot on the PP as a kick starter.

I don't think Mo is going to move Laine around - he's made up his mind that Little is the guy best able to play short handed all night.

I doubt Laine is complaining too much at this point

I think he just wants Laine to say awe f*** it and just bust his ass and battle. IMO the kid is now so wrapped up in his head he is almost paralyzed out there at times. I'd just play him with Lowry and Tanev and hope he starts working as hard as his linemates.
