Our power play has been scouted and has been figured out imo, cover Scheif pressure Wheeler, and Laine effectively neutered us. They need to try something different even when the pass gets through to Alain’s the goalie is most times over where he needs to be to make the save.
Our pp has sucked since buff was out, teams only had to worry about schief and laines shot, with buff back you have to worry about all 3. buff is also our best d at passing to laine. It blows my mind that as soon as we get him back we take laine off.

I am / was genuinely surprised how sucky the PP became without Buff. I would be very interested in seeing how it looks like now that he's back. Maybe I haven't given him enough credit. But he doesn't defer to Wheeler and seems to think Laine's shot is almost as good as his own. I'm starting to think both might be good things, though I've often criticized him of not passing to Laine enough.

Exactly this. And Buff is a RHD, so he can make the transition to Laine faster as well, and can be a one time option for Wheeler, which Mo wasn't.

Why are people always complaining about the PP?
Do fans think that their team should score on every PP?
Watch SN ... every day until last night all they talked about is what's wrong with the Leaf PP.
Teams PPs go through dry spells ... well maybe not Tampas.:thumbd:
Jets are 4th in the league in PP scoring% and first in their division and conference. Seriously the Jets finally have a Stanley Cup contender and it seems like there's more complaining that when the Jets were a non playoff team.
Relax .. only 25 games to go before the real season starts.:thumbu:

Umm... What? Laine has had great results with every other center he's spent any significant time with. (Scheifele and Stastny)

Um , so what do you want done ? Bring Copp up to center the 2nd line with Laine and Roslovic and move Little to the 4th line ?That would give Little about 8 minutes of ice time when he is our 2nd best all around center . Laine isn't going on the 3rd line with Lowry because that's our checking line that goes up against the other teams best line . Actually Laine probably should be on the first line and see what happens .

Yeah I get the sense the Jets are trying out some stuff during this period of schedule drudgery up until the trade deadline. Call it playoff homework if you will.

This. I also think they're keeping Laine off PP1 until he can stop over-thinking it. That last game he was on it, he was really beating himself up about those missed chances.

I doubt they figured he wouldn't score at all in the meantime, but here we are.

I think this is exactly it. You have a young player that was named 1st star of the week for scoring 5 PP goals on PP2. Don't they deserve a look on PP1 for a bit? I have no doubt that come the first game of playoffs the standard PP1 setup with will be in place with the key 4 of Wheeler, Buff, Scheif and Laine. Maybe a rental gets Connor's spot, maybe not. (Stone would look good there though.)

Then PP2 has Ehlers, Little, Connor/Rental(?), Roslovic, Myers/Morrissey/Trouba. Maybe Perreault on there... lots of options but we should experiment a bit to know what works. What if PP2 with Laine becomes lethal and we can then save our top line guys to play even strength minutes after the penalty? Never know until you try.

Lets get some other guys some looks here before we start ramping up for the playoffs. Then in case of injury a playoff game isn't the first time they've had a chance.

Did they keep the two Ranger assists on the one goal that deflected off Trouba and Morrissey? What a joke that there's two assists on an own goal.

Pretty sure the rule is possession, and the Jets did not have possession

Post pracky interviews...

I've thought this for a while but Scheif's right shoulder looks lower than his left and he has quite a bump on that right shoulder . I wonder if that is from that injury he had last season ?

Really impressed with Copp. I remember when he came here and I thought he had potential because he's such a well built athlete. Seems to just get better every year even with a small role.

When is the last time Laine blasted a one timer in the net :(

This isn’t soccer. Nothing about that goa suggests “own goal”. It hit Trouba’s leg, then Morrissey’s stick, and finally his foot before going in.

You guys can blame me for that goal. Had a premonition about a triple deflection goal right before they scored. :biglaugh:

Buff was mean last night. I think they are still scraping Rangers off of the boards.

I do so enjoy that version of Buff. When Dusty is at the top of his game playing fully engaged and physical he is the most entertaining player in the NHL to watch for my money anyways.

A completely irrational reaction to this game: I don't want Hayes or Zuccarello at all.

Maybe we could get Lord Alfred Hayes ...
