While Binny has a bit of a slump, he's proven to be a reliable netminder when it matters and can face adversity and bounce back. Binny's situation in the STL may be less that he's lacking and more that he's lost the room. He has a very particular demeanor and that might have gotten old. In a locker room that needs that kind of attitude, he may very well be that missing piece.

Does he say they are shopping him, or that he assumes they are shopping him.

Heck, I get it if it means they can bring in Lindholm but it seems far too reactionary for them.

We've pretty much known that Army has been aggressive in trying to free up cap space and going after LHD targets. This piece said there wasn't any traction, so probably not much to discuss. It's worth making a call to see if a team is interested.

FWIW, he has looked better since his break, but teams won't take that risk on until he has a longer stretch of solid play.
He's put up a 2.01 GAA / .928 SP stat line in his five starts since his "reset" and has put up a 2.73 GAA / 0.913 SP line for the year if you throw out his 3 game melt down at the end of January. These are slightly above league average, which basically means that he is this year what he has always been since his rookie year (2.60 GAA / 0.911 SP the last two seasons before this one) when he (and the team) benefitted from the fact that no one had any tape on him. He's a slightly above league average goalie who can absolutely dominate when he gets hot and stink up the joint when he loses his focus.

He's probably not worth $6M a year, but he's worth every bit of $4.5M - $5M with the team that signed him paying a premium for winning a Cup. I think it would be a huge mistake to move him before the playoffs, even if there was high demand, unless and until Husso proves he can be the #1 guy and excel in the playoffs when it matters most.

As good as Husso has been has STL not been through the rollercoaster situation before with goalies come playoff time?

Unless they are getting someone else that is really good I'd almost keep him until the off-season

I'd love him in Toronto. He's the kind of winner this team needs. Doubt there's a way to make the cap work tho, Blues would want no part of Mrazek.

Binnington and Campbell would be quite the tandem of polar opposite personalities. It'd be nice if his mean streak could rub off on Campbell a little bit.

At the end of the day I don't see the Blues trading him at all tho
As a Canuck fan I would also love him in Toronto.

Lol good luck with any team taking that contract

Change the title. Should read: "Blues done shopping Binnington"

Because they tried shopping him, and nobody wants what they are selling.

Oh how the mediocre have fallen.

Dude legitimately outplayed Tuuka Rask in the Cup Final, and lifted his team to a Cup victory by making the routine saves and playing with confidence; something this team rarely saw consistently from their goaltending. He's not going to be mistaken for Shesterkin, but he's not a horrible goaltender who will soon be out of the league. He's a workhorse starter who's slightly above average in a lot of attributes, with a compete level that the guys rally around.

He can be a bit of a doofus with his tough-guy act; but he's still a good goalie. He's just currently making a lot of money and watching his back-up outshine him.

Hard to imagine Binnington would be a TDL move. Definitely more of a summer trade when teams are reassessing goaltending.

Yep. Especially when they have a better opportunity to work out cap implications instead of a couple days before the trade deadline with most of the league at or near the top limit.

Ken Holland is puking and crying rn

Binnington would almost assuredly be the best acquisition Edmonton could make right now so it likely won't happen.
St Louis has allowed 33 less goals than the Oilers and have a substantially better defense.
And Binnington has WORSE numbers than Koskinen and Husso is stealing his job.
Why would that be a good acquisition? Binnington has gotten worse every single season.

Matt Murray put up a .920 save% in 2019-2020 and won 2 cups. Doesn't change that he's basically a cap dump for Ottawa at this point.
