I didnt write the article... but i personally think Dunn is a great young player. I think he takes a big jump as he gains experience. I could see 30 points in his second year if he gets the secondary pp time. More if he gets the first unit.
Thanks!! Are you part of that website?

In Jeff Ponder’s podcast, Andy Strickland dropped a pretty big hint that the Blues are trying to bring in someone from the Islanders coaching staff. That sounds like Scott Gomez to me, although I’d love to get Dougie Weight behind the bench with Yeo and Berube too.

Weight isn't going anywhere with that ridiculous salary. Also, he doesn't exactly come across as a very modern coach with some of the comments that he makes.

Been obsessing about the Blues offseason since we lost to Colorado. Just realized there was an entire section of HFBoards that is team specific. Woot

53 weeks is all it took? it gets better...there are even sections devoted to overseas, the minor leagues and junior, and even TV and politics that you'll someday potentially stumble upon. Faux sports-betting your thing? HFBoards has that covered too in the 'Sportsbook'. I suggest you start looking now though, before some of these amazing features are gone forever. RIP HF-Arcade.

I had made an account on HFBoards in May 2017 after Game 4 against the Predators last year. I was livid about that Reeves call. Never scrolled far enough to the bottom to realize how many sub forums are here.

Really wish Army would have done more at the trade deadline last year. This off season looms large. I really hope we see a big shake-up.

Looking at the Blues contracts for 2018-2019, I would be okay with moving any or all of the following with the understanding that these players will be replaced through free agency, trade or from promoting within.

Steen - 5.75M
Bouwmeester - 5.40M
Allen - 4.35M
Berglund - 3.85M
Sobotka - 3.50M
Gunnarsson - 2.90M

Welcome to the board. We'd all be okay with moving them for the right price. :)

I remember that call. Didn't the Preds score a goal on that PP and it pretty much lost us the game?

Welcome.

Do you guys think parayko has much room for offensive improvement or is he probably where he will spend most of his career around 35 points a season?

If Blues can have a consistent year and not be a bottom dweller team for most of the 2nd half of the season, I think he will hit 45 points.

Parayko has all the physical tools be to an elite defenseman in the NHL on both ends of the ice. Not sure why he can't put it all together. Better coaching needed perhaps?

Brad Shaw departed after the 2015-2016 season under whom Colton flourished as a rookie. Coincidence that Werenski and Jones play has skyrocketed since Shaw joined Columbus?

Do you think parayko will ever be a norris candidate type of dman?
Given the amount of offense Norris candidates need to put up nowadays to draw votes, usually 60+ points to go along with a reasonable defensive reputation, I think that's a pretty easy no.

A three zone guy who can anchor a top pairing isn't out of the realm of possibility, though. I agree with IA that the past expectations some had of him surpassing Pietrangelo were likely unfounded, but that's a really high bar to clear.

Being a top 10 defenseman in the league isn't just about what tools you have. It's about how your entire game comes together in practice (which often involves the "non-tools" tools like how quickly and accurately you process the game, the quality of your decision making and execution under pressure, etc.), it's about impacting the game in all three zones in a variety of ways (both with and without the puck), and it's about the level of consistency that your game has from night to night and season to season.

The guys at the top of the heap set incredibly high standards in those areas. It's possible to grow one's game and climb into that tier in the later 20s, but usually guys at that level are making it obvious that there is something special about them pretty early on (with the biggest issue at younger ages usually being consistency).

Id rather have Thomas, Kyrou, Husso, Thompson, Kostin, Schmaltz playing and finish in last place than those shlubs. At least we’d be building for the future.
