Thank you for sharing this.

On a side note, I watched this video and in the celebration it looked like he was being dwarfed by his teammates. I didn't remember him being particularly small, so I looked it up and he's listed at 6'1. My next thought was that it was a strange camera angle so I looked up the player closest to the camera's height, Crevier and that answered my question. Dude is 6'8?! Good lord.
thought the same thing lol

and man, that's a quick release

Bolduc with 1g, 1a. Both in the last 2.5 Minutes of the game. He is at 47 goals now.

#47 in the empty net

Thanks again for the updates. He just hit the 60 GP mark for the year and the progress from the first half of the year to the second is remarkable.

In his first 30 games: 15 goals, 22 assists, 37 points
In his last 30 games: 32 goals, 21 assists, 53 points

Quite a difference his change in diet has made. His second half pace projected over a complete 68 game QMJHL season is 72.5 goals and 47.6 assists or roughly 120 points. I know he is a year older, but if this were a draft eligible player you would probably be talking about a guy going in the Top 5 of the draft and he just turned 19 about 8 weeks ago. Depending on the work he puts in this summer putting on some "man strength", he might be looking at the same path next season as Neighbors had this season, with at least a 9 game trial and the potential to give the GM no choice but to keep him around.

He just turned 19, so he can go back to juniors if he doesn't make the NHL squad this fall, right?

Correct. He will be ineligible to go to the AHL next year because he doesn't turn 20 until after December 31, 2022. It will be interesting to see if he ends up on the Canadian roster for the World Juniors as this will be his final year of eligibility. With Neighbors, since he just turned 20 last month, it is AHL or NHL next year for him.

FYI - the World Juniors will be played in early August to make up for last year's cancellation.
Will that be with the same rosters as decided before? Will there be another WJC in December/January 2022/2023? Would be interesting if they can re-do their rosters, and if so, whether Bolduc would have a shot, but I suspect that rosters will simply be as before. Bolduc should make it for the next one, though.

WJC 2022 will be played all over again in August in Edmonton and countries will be able to ice new teams if they want or just choose the same players. Players born in 2002 will be eligible even if they are 20 already. Russia will be replaced by Latvia.

WJC 2023 will take place in December-January like usual. It was supposed to be held in Russia but of course it won’t. It will be in Canada. The hosts cities will be named before the end of the month. Saskatoon/Regina, Ottawa, Quebec/Trois-Rivieres and Moncton/Halifax are candidates. Bolduc should be there barring an injury or he makes the NHL and the Blues decide not to send him. Quebec/Trois-Rivieres could be great. Quebec is where he plays junior and Trois-Rivieres is his hometown.

Does anyone know what is up with Kostin? He hasn't been in the Thunderbird lineup in a long time it seems. Hurt?

Bolduc is 2+1 tonight - still about 5 minutes left in the 3rd to get to 50! Edit: game over, Bolduc 1st star in 5-2 win.

I couldn't find anything regarding an injury but that's because it's tough to find news for the AHL. I'd imagine it is an injury rather than healthy scratches - because there's no way he can't crack that lineup.

I think Kostin's time with the Blues is likely coming to an end. Especially with Toropchenko passing him.

Strong game for Joel Hofer - plus the Gordie Howe Hat Trick for Will Bitten.

The next 40 minutes would turn into the Hofer show, as the T-Birds netminder was at his magnificent best in turning away a swarm of 24 Penguins shots from all angles and in all situations over the final two periods.
Hofer stopped 32 of 33 in the victory, and in his last three outings, he has turned away 98 out of 102 shots he has faced.

Hofer was looking pretty shaky about 2-3 weeks ago, but appears to be getting hot at the right time.

Along the same lines, Charlie Lindgren got the shutout today as the T-Birds beat Providence 4-0. Two hot goalies right before the playoffs. I'll gladly take that situation.

How has Matt Kessel looked in the AHL thus far?
AHL doesn't have great public stats, but in 13 games, he's a +6, so he's at least not out of place. According to Springfield's twitter, he's been on the 3rd pair, and I don't think he's missed a game since he arrived.

Here is an interesting perspective. There is only 1 player in the CHL that started the year at 18 or younger that has more goals than Zachary Bolduc this year - Connor Bedard.
