What a difference 6 months makes. He was invited in December and rightfully so, but now he is a can’t miss.

I wonder if he could make it in August for the tournament? There are some players from the team in December who probably won’t be there. The 19-20 yo players who have real shot at making the NHL next season might want to opt out.

OT win, 4-3 vs St. John.

Next game Friday vs Hamilton
Now we know what they have to do. A win of any kind or an OT loss gets them to the semi-final. They are guaranteed to finish behind at least Shawinigan, so finishing 1st is out of the question. A regulation loss ends their tournament. They never faced elimination in the WHL playoffs, so this is a new type of adversity for them. With that said, they did battle back from a 1-0 series deficit in the Final, so they can draw on that experience.

As a Blues and hockey fan, I am absolutely pumped for an awesome night of hockey. Starting at 5pm we get to watch our 2020 1st round pick try to captain his team to the semi-final of the Memorial Cup. At 6pm our AHL affiliate starts game 4 of the Calder Cup Final. And then at 7pm the Stanley Cup is in the building. Tonight is a 2 screen night with 5+ hours of championship hockey.

Thanks for the update. I couldn't untangle the Memorial Cup scenarios.

Let's Go Oil Kings!

I was really unimpressed by Cossa. He made some great saves but let in some real iffy goals in game I watched (not today). I see why he was drafted so high- big and quick- but he is far from a sure thing to be quality NHL goalie.

He let in another pretty questionable one last night. Hamilton player had the puck on the goal line and whipped it around and under Cossa’s pad for a big PP goal. No excuse for him not sealing the ice on that play. To my untrained eye it looked like a technique issue when he was in the reverse vh along the post. Something that could be easily fixed...but yeah it was a tough one to give up at that time.

Prospect camp announced:

About the invites: most of them seem to be squadfillers: Tyler Tucker's brother Jesse is there, Brayden Guy is there. (was here last year aswell)...
On first glance only interesting invite to watch is Mankato's Brendan Furry.

Also cool that Simon Robertsson and Leo Loof are going to attend, so we can watch them more up closely. No Vorobyev and Zherenko unfortunatly.

Curious to see how Robertsson stacks up against his age group and how close he is to Bolduc or Neighbours. He was someone that was highly ranked in the draft and fell, and he's a goal scorer type. Loof is another, and I wonder if they pair him with Kessel as that could be a potential pairing down the road, at least in the minors. Loof becoming a potential Hjalmarsson would definitely fill a need over the next couple years.

I would be very interested in hearing about Noah Beck. He is a big boy and was very productive for his college team.

One of the invites - 6' 1" 185 left shot forward, Minn State U Mankato, 23 years old

GP 44G 13A 31PTS 44PIM 20+30

Brendan Furry, Ondrej Pavel and Ryan Sandelin each turned down professional offers to return to MSU.

Furry is coming off a breakout season offensively, finishing third on the team with 44 points. He’ll be the first-line center and has a chance to be an All-American.

Very intrigued by Leo Loof and Robertsson coming over. I'm not sure how long we retain rights to Loof? I would've hoped for an entry level deal by now. Another guy to watch is Travis Mitchell. He may develop into a good shutdown 5-6 guy or stay at home guy for a Perunovich to chase the puck. Played tough minutes for Cornell. Good first pass. Brendan Furry...I'm very surprised he came to our camp. May be a good thing or just wants to be a Blue...or a showcase with no pressure? I just figured he would go to a camp where he could potentially jump straight to the NHL after his college season.

Will any of the scrimmages be streamed?
The announcement states: 101 ESPN will broadcast live from Prospect Camp each day (July 11-14) from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Strange how they will be broadcasting only during one of the practices and missing the first practice and scrimmage. I think the previous 2 camps before COVID they streamed the scrimmages.
