Unbelievable, just our luck. We have a legit World Series contender in Toronto for the first time in years and the Yankees decided to have an historically great season. f***. Will the Yanks luck run out at some point?

Their starting pitching can’t remain this good and healthy for a full season, right? This is insane:

I'm guessing that if Severino gets randomly selected, he's going to miss some time. One thing that drives me nuts is a drug policy where while a guy gets suspended 60 and no playoffs for this, there is no punishment to the team that directly benefits.

Cole is absolutely that good, Taillon is likely to get hurt and Montgomery is about a month and a half away from arm fatigue. No idea if Cortes can keep it up (though he might be an honest to goodness resurgence)

Sucks that the Jays are basically out of the division race but at least there are more playoff spots.

I really hope this is just a glass house the Yanks have built and that they’re a second half slide away from being pretenders

'98 Braves level? I can't imagine they all continue this through the entirety of the season. Also average LOB% is 72.3%, Yanks and Dodgers are at 81.6% and 80.7%. Only two teams have ever finished above 80% and they were the 2020 (short seasoned) Indians and Rays.

Unless they get hit with injuries, which they likely will as no starting 5 stays healthy all year, I'm not expecting major regression. Hardly any red flags under hood other than maybe a low BABIP and high LOB%. But they are #1 in K-BB% by a mile and they don't give up hard contact. Their SwStr% (1st) and CSW% (3rd) actually suggests they might be in store for more Ks (mainly Montgomery).

It sucks to see them do well, but that's a legitimately good rotation with no weaknesses at the moment.

In what universe is pointing out objective facts "unsportsmanlike conduct"?

Why is it okay for an umpire to escalate a bad situation?

And more importantly for this idiot, what is to stop Toronto's catcher from moving out of the way of a pitch the next time he's behind to plate to let him get smoked? Or better yet, what's to stop someone like Bo (with his bat control) from intentionally trying to foul tip every single pitch at the ump?

Rewatching the video I don't even see any contact. Maybe Martinez puts his hand up to Eddings chest as if to say stop coming towards me(which Eddings edged forward as Martinez was getting tossed). But it was the most harmless thing I've ever seen. 5 games seems incredibly excessive.

I think he did bump Eddings. It’s why the other umps moved to separate them finally at the end. I’m ok with it though because Eddings is f***ing terrible.

I don’t pretend to know baseball operations BUT why do we keep bringing up Beasley? He gets battered every time. Do we not have capable relievers in the farm that are MUCH better or just better. He is awful. Why keep bringing him up.
