1: why couldn't we offer him a contract extension?
I mean - Beeston is going so that silly 5 year thing is out of the window.

2: wouldn't going after Donaldson, Tulu and Now Price show a LOT of higher-end free agents that we are super serious about pushing for a World Series next year too?

soo. bright sides people

Only if Price re-signs; he has two months left on his current deal.

I'd sooner trade Sanchez than Norris, but management appears infatuated with Sanchez (an infatuation I used to share).

Given AA's love for pitchers with control, I'm pretty sure he must've been given some assurance by ownership that they'd let him pay the man.

Probably just a little bit blinded by the Carrasco/Archer career arcs.

#Astros can become players in the David Price talks, as well, if they include McCullers or Velasquez in their offer. (1/2)

#Tigers need high-level pitching piece for Price. Norris would be it from Jays. McCullers or Velasquez vs. Norris a tough question. (2/2)

Maybe just playing devil's advocate, but it's not confirmed yet guys.

1. If we sign Price, there's about a 1% chance of us bringing back Buehrle and Dickey.

2. I agree we'd be WS contenders next season, which is part of the reason I wish we'd wait until FA to get Price if he wants to come here.

EDIT: Please don't give up Stroman, and only send 1 of Norris/Sanchez, and I'll be happy

We will be contenders with Price and Stroman. You can find back end starters fairly easily and when you have two studs at the top it allows your young starters to work through things.

He would also have to want to stay here, which is tough to decide when you're only here for 2 months.

I'm very worried.

Source: #SFGiants pessimistic on Price. All signs point to #BlueJays. Deal between DET and TOR is close, per @JonHeymanCBS.

Get him and back the truck up and give him Scherzer money because its god damn David Price.

Yeah, no question, but as DJQ said... offer him Scherzer money immediately and work your way up. Most people who've come here have fallen in love... well, maybe not Roger Clemens, but he's generally an exception to everything.

Get Price, extend him. Sign Shark in the offseason.

I can't see how we can structure Price to fit him in long term. Seems like a dumb move for someone who will be here for 10 starts and currently out of a playoff spot.

I am all aboard for Price, but NOT for Norris + Alford. HELL NO.

Sanchez + Pompey or something. Sanchez + Boyd +

But not our two best prospects in my opinion. For 2 months of Price. If he was signed 4-5 years then sure.

arent both retiring at the end of the year?

Dickey has a team option for 12M or a 1M buyout. Hasn't been much indication that he's retiring -- really up to the Jays if they want to pick up his option or buy him out. Probably depends a lot of if they can land a pitcher or not. If they land a high priced pitcher it's pretty much a guarantee they wont have the money for his option.

Good chance Buehrle retires or pitches closer to home (St. Louis). He couldn't move his family here because he has pitbulls which are banned here and he wasn't willing to part with them.
