These teams are a multi-million dollar businesses, with some being billion dollar businesses. You don't gamble the future of the organization on a uneducated gamble.

I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, but your line of thinking is not how GMs run their teams.

As someone else said, the odds of Chicago picking top 3 again are extremely low. And if Chicago trades their first for next year, you don't think they won't do everything in their power and within reason to make sure they don't finish in the bottom 5-10?

The enormous difference being those trades before the draft included all 2024 picks with known values. CBJ could not possibly forgo #4 OV pick in '24 for an unknown Chicago pick in '25, what if they make some moves and get better, and that '25 pick is in the 10-12 OV range. CBJ would be tsking an enormous risk, and for what, in the hopes that they get a high Chicago pick in '25 who would be as good as Lindstrom?

Apprently that's not accurate.

Pierre Lebrun reported the Blackhawks made an offer for Columb #4OA pick. According to the article they offered next year's first rounder (unprotected) and next year's second rounder.

There has to be something BIG missing from that. That seems like an incredibly insulting and disrespectful trade offer. Waddell has to just hang up on them.

There is reporting Columbus had negotiated an extension with Necas. I'm guessing that was the deal that was their backup deal if Lindstrom was gone.
