Question is: If Anaheim drafted Lindstrom, would CLB have accepted that offer?

said they had a trade as a backup if Lindstrom was gone. Not sure what trade offer that was though
I think they take the Necas deal if Lindstrom was taken. They want to compete sooner rather than later and that adds another year to the waiting by taking the picks.

I dont think Waddell is a fan of the roster construction and trading for Necas only adds more of the same, I have my doubts that would have been the deal

Lol

This isn't some random dude in a casino.

These teams are a multi-million dollar businesses, with some being billion dollar businesses. You don't gamble the future of the organization on a uneducated gamble.

I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, but your line of thinking is not how GMs run their teams.

As someone else said, the odds of Chicago picking top 3 again are extremely low. And if Chicago trades their first for next year, you don't think they won't do everything in their power and within reason to make sure they don't finish in the bottom 5-10?
The fact that 3 draft pick trades happened pre draft show otherwise “ not how GMs run there teams”

The enormous difference being those trades before the draft included all 2024 picks with known values. CBJ could not possibly forgo #4 OV pick in '24 for an unknown Chicago pick in '25, what if they make some moves and get better, and that '25 pick is in the 10-12 OV range. CBJ would be tsking an enormous risk, and for what, in the hopes that they get a high Chicago pick in '25 who would be as good as Lindstrom?

Do like what Chicago was trying to do though. Get as much high end talent around the same age to grow with Bedard is smart business.

Would like to hear the full trade offer. What is posted and not knowing what the “additional pick” was, hard time seeing anyone accept the offer unless it was very meaningful.

Yeah they could possibly get a higher draft pick with Chicsgo’s next year, but it could also backfire in a pretty epic way as well.

Better to take what is there than risk that.

This is what the leafs did, and did it very well

Rielly, Kadri, Nylander, Marner, Matthews

Everything after that though, the wheels fell off

They’d also be getting back another 1st

Then you’d look like a fool if that pick turned into #1 overall. You strike me as a guy that’s never been in a casino in his life. My dad put my college fund on red and when he won he gave me the other half for highschool graduation. You get ahead in life by taking risk or you stay at the bottom
Sorry to be that guy, but your dad is an idiot, and likely a degenerative gambler. If he lost, now you don't go to college. Really smart risk to take.

If CBJ makes that deal, how does Waddell say "We think the Blackhawks are going to suck again next year" ?

that's would basically what it would come down to.

What if it’s 1st overall next year?

I'd say top5 at the very least are going to be very good prospects.

They would have needed to add a young NHL top 6 physical player to their 2025 first to even have a real discussion. Besides Bedard, I'm not sure who would have gotten it done. Maybe Reichel? So something like 2025 unprotected 1st, 2024 pick plus Reichel?

They’d also be getting back another 1st
They would have to add something very significant to that for it to make sense for Columbus.

Apprently that's not accurate.

Pierre Lebrun reported the Blackhawks made an offer for Columb #4OA pick. According to the article they offered next year's first rounder (unprotected) and next year's second rounder.

There has to be something BIG missing from that. That seems like an incredibly insulting and disrespectful trade offer. Waddell has to just hang up on them.

There is reporting Columbus had negotiated an extension with Necas. I'm guessing that was the deal that was their backup deal if Lindstrom was gone.

Waddle should of convinced Montréal he was taking one of these deals to get them to give something to move 1 spot
