You would need to guarantee it’s a higher pick next year then 4OA this year to give the offer value… They can’t guarantee that so the offer is a joke!
Buddy do you realize how much money the power ball lottery generates a year? It’s a high risk high reward move.

That’s a terrible take sorry…. The offer is brutal and if my GM took that offer I would hope it’s the last move he makes as our GM….
Then you’d look like a fool if that pick turned into #1 overall. You strike me as a guy that’s never been in a casino in his life. My dad put my college fund on red and when he won he gave me the other half for highschool graduation. You get ahead in life by taking risk or you stay at the bottom

If the other pick was 18, and they weren't higher on who was available at 4 compared to the crop of 12 or so players who were possibilities anywhere from 2 to 12, maybe they could justify it.

Columbus could have possibly bundled 18 and 36 to move back up a few spots and with how much variability there was with the lists, they might have still gotten a "top 10 talent".

It doesn't make much sense otherwise because there is no guarantee that the Chicago pick will be high next year. There is so much volatility in the league and Chicago has assets+cap space to add roster players.

Oh there's a fair portion of our fanbase who is immediately calling him a bust due to the back and we wasted this year's pick. Go look at our reddit its unreal how many people hate this pick.
His back scared me too but you can't deny his potential.

I wanted demidov so I'm happy but when CBJ announced Lindstrom, felt pretty jealous lol. He's gonna be a very interesting player to watch if his health holds up

I get it and would have liked it...but then what Blackhawks ended up doing at 18 and 27 doesnt make any f***ing sense as neither will play with Bedard and are more likely 3rd and 4th line type players. Just a flat terrible draft by the Blackhawks
They'll get their forward next year. Not a sexy draft for Chicago but a really important one.

Boisvert is a nice pick

Smart decision to not do it

Couple of years ago everyone laughed at their C depth and now Columbus has drafted franchise C prospects in back to back drafts

No need to wait a year to maybe have chance to do what they were able to do yesterday

Fantilli-Lindstrom as a a center duo was way too enticing to pass up. 2 big, fast, skilled and competitive guys anchoring your center ice position is beyond exciting and not really a strength this franchise has ever had.

Assuming our top 3 centers in a few years is Fantilli-Lindstrom-Voronkov thats 6'2" 195lbs, 6'3" 214lbs and 6'5" somewhere in the range of 225-240lbs and 2 of them are still kids. A lot of size and a lot of skill on a team that after the last wave of vets left became a small/soft/skill team, brings much more balance

If it was Demidov, why wouldn't they re-offer to Montreal?
They clearly did. Davidson and Hughes add a long talk right before the draft. Hughes after that reached his table, talked with his personnal and came back to Davidson right after and you could see Hughes head making a no movement during his talk.

We don't know the full offer, but I see why Columbus passed. And from a Hawks fan perspective, and now seeing how the Hawks are trying to reel in expectations for next year already - I'm guessing we have another top 5 or 6 pick coming next year, so I'm ok that this didn't happen.

Lol

This isn't some random dude in a casino.

These teams are a multi-million dollar businesses, with some being billion dollar businesses. You don't gamble the future of the organization on a uneducated gamble.

I'm not trying to convince you otherwise, but your line of thinking is not how GMs run their teams.

As someone else said, the odds of Chicago picking top 3 again are extremely low. And if Chicago trades their first for next year, you don't think they won't do everything in their power and within reason to make sure they don't finish in the bottom 5-10?
