and one of the most annoying fan bases on hfboards.I definitely want to smash Vancouver.
They're absolutely no-count and are just a rudderless franchise right now, by their own admission.

I’ve thought most were pretty pleasant that I’ve encountered, at least as of several years back, but they’re certainly a very tortured fanbase, as they’re one of the oldest franchises to not have a cup and they’ve went 0-3 in cup finals.and one of the most annoying fan bases on hfboards.
Yeah, I read that too. You really have to wonder if they have even watched a Devils game this season. Probably not. A couple of people wrote about us using the "trap" in the Colorado game which is total nonsense. No way, totally incorrect! I have been reliably informed by the main board that the Devils are back to trapping and playing boring hockey.
Colorado fans are as fairweather as they come. Are only around when they winYeah, I read that too. You really have to wonder if they have even watched a Devils game this season. Probably not. A couple of people wrote about us using the "trap" in the Colorado game which is total nonsense.
7 gf, even a win for gilliesBlackwood probably would have won this game, hell Kyle Shapiro could have won it lol.
Late in the period after the goal we did do the neutral zone trap till the end of the game but that was like...10% of the game. Also pretty much every team does it now in days during tight games.Yeah, I read that too. You really have to wonder if they have even watched a Devils game this season. Probably not. On top of that, there's been less turnover coming into this year than the past few. Obviously there's new faces, but it's more complimentary and depth players and I think more of the chemistry and systems knowledge has carried over.I don't think it's necessarily that the system was too confusing. There's a big difference between understanding the theory and actually executing it. On top of that, you're playing against real players, not AI.
I'm not so sure. Imagine the game was 4-4 or 4-3 coming out of the second. It's a totally different dynamic. Devils stepped on the throat and that's harder to do when you feel like you have to protect the goalie from good chances.Blackwood probably would have won this game, hell Kyle Shapiro could have won it lol.
He played most of his career with the Blackhawks and had only 3 seasons with NJ.Is this Tim guy even real ? How old would he be? Was he a Devil or when they say team record , wouod that go back to Colorado days ?
Exactly, this is simply how teams defend narrow leads these days and not a means to suffocate a whole game. Besides, I saw a 1-3-1 maybe a couple of times in that game.Late in the period after the goal we did do the neutral zone trap till the end of the game but that was like...10% of the game. Also pretty much every team does it now in days during tight games.
They seem to be more aggressive in trying to get on the puck and use their speed the offensive zone.Perhaps I’m micro-analyzing here, but I wonder if Ryan McGill has implemented a touch which would explain why we’re allowing such few shots? I was not really anti-Nas, although I think it was time for him to go as he was one of the longest tenured regular assistant coaches we’ve ever had.
Then sometimes I wonder if there was a concise effort to give other teams as little as utterly possible to help shelter the goalies a bit. Since there’s less likely of a chance we allow 3 goals if we’re only giving up 20-23 shots most nights.
I said it before at the start :The Devils took Johnny signing in Columbus personally LMAO
We owe Ruff an apology
Vanichek is far from mediocre, though.Top of the Metro Table!
Also it looks like the team has learned to play with mediocre goaltending (although Vanichek has settled in). Be relentless in the opposing team’s zone
He's gonna be the Jack Adams favorite by Thanksgiving. This team is for real and gonna be the story of the year it looks like.We owe Ruff an apology
I believe it's every shot attempt split by players, the size of the rectangles how likely it was to be a goal (expected goals) from 0.0 to 1.0. Basically Devils had 6 expected goals for, columbus had 0.9 expected goals for, and you can compare players just based on eyeballing it.I have no idea how to read this thing but it looks impressive.
