Perhaps I’m micro-analyzing here, but I wonder if Ryan McGill has implemented a touch which would explain why we’re allowing such few shots? I was not really anti-Nas, although I think it was time for him to go as he was one of the longest tenured regular assistant coaches we’ve ever had.

Then sometimes I wonder if there was a concise effort to give other teams as little as utterly possible to help shelter the goalies a bit. Since there’s less likely of a chance we allow 3 goals if we’re only giving up 20-23 shots most nights.

Well arent i happy to have been to this game at the Rock! Bit of a rocky start for me to get there. After the logistics issues i arrived at the arena w/o a ticket. Took forever for the sites to finally accept my purchase and another eternity to get nuff internet to open the ticket. Did not miss any of the goals and half way to the gamr forgot i had missed the first 15 mins!

Devils hockey looking probably the best it has looked since 2008 or so.

No way, totally incorrect! I have been reliably informed by the main board that the Devils are back to trapping and playing boring hockey.
Yeah, I read that too. You really have to wonder if they have even watched a Devils game this season. Probably not. A couple of people wrote about us using the "trap" in the Colorado game which is total nonsense.

Colorado fans are as fairweather as they come. Are only around when they win

Plus Makar is the most overrated player in the NHL; Bobby Orr my ass lmfao, dudes success was the product of the team and has been bad this year

Late in the period after the goal we did do the neutral zone trap till the end of the game but that was like...10% of the game. Also pretty much every team does it now in days during tight games.

I don't think it's necessarily that the system was too confusing. There's a big difference between understanding the theory and actually executing it. On top of that, you're playing against real players, not AI.
On top of that, there's been less turnover coming into this year than the past few. Obviously there's new faces, but it's more complimentary and depth players and I think more of the chemistry and systems knowledge has carried over.

It's pretty crazy to look back at the last 2-3 years of rosters and see all the turnover. The 19-20 season in particular is wild to look at. Palmieri and Gusev leading the team in scoring, Hall was there before the deadline, Coleman, Wayne Simmonds, Zacha, Zajac... Then the backend is a totally different team: Greene, Subban, Vatanen, Butcher, and Mueller, with Carrick and Tennyson playing good chunks of the season.

It's nice to finally feel like all the moves are starting to make hay after such a disappointing year last year.

Blackwood probably would have won this game, hell Kyle Shapiro could have won it lol.
I'm not so sure. Imagine the game was 4-4 or 4-3 coming out of the second. It's a totally different dynamic. Devils stepped on the throat and that's harder to do when you feel like you have to protect the goalie from good chances.

Is this Tim guy even real ? How old would he be? Was he a Devil or when they say team record , wouod that go back to Colorado days ?
He played most of his career with the Blackhawks and had only 3 seasons with NJ.

I feel like he is undeserving of having a DEVILS record because of that and am rooting for Bratt to overtake him as he's the Homegrown player.

Exactly, this is simply how teams defend narrow leads these days and not a means to suffocate a whole game. Besides, I saw a 1-3-1 maybe a couple of times in that game.

They seem to be more aggressive in trying to get on the puck and use their speed the offensive zone.

Stick positioning and breaking things up defensively also seems to be better. But I’m not sure if that is coaching or upgrading the bottom half of the defense.

The Devils took Johnny signing in Columbus personally LMAO
I said it before at the start :

I wanted the Devils to run this team out of the building because Johnny Hockey decided to go there instead of making the SMART choice and coming here.

Screw him and Screw the BlueJackets!

Glad the Devils annihilated them.

We owe Ruff an apology
He's gonna be the Jack Adams favorite by Thanksgiving. This team is for real and gonna be the story of the year it looks like.

I have no idea how to read this thing but it looks impressive.
I believe it's every shot attempt split by players, the size of the rectangles how likely it was to be a goal (expected goals) from 0.0 to 1.0. Basically Devils had 6 expected goals for, columbus had 0.9 expected goals for, and you can compare players just based on eyeballing it.
