Post-Game Talk: Blue Jackets at Rangers 12/12/2013

This looked like a pre-lockout game circa 2003. Same kind of crap. I don't know if it's a lack of talent, a lack of listening to the coach, bad luck, or a combination of all of it, but it's ugly and something needs to change fast.

Makes signing Lundqvist that ridiculous contract look dumber and dumber. With that albatross around their necks, they really can't do a rebuild. Not that tanking is the right way, but liquidating assets for picks and pieces is the right way. Lundqvist would have brought back a bit.

Beyond that, it is just so frustrating to watch a guy try to make a play and the damn ice causes a strange bounce which ends up in the back of the Ranger net.

And the puck bouncing like a beach ball all over the place in the third period was awful to watch from an entertainment perspective.

Agreed, when he was hired, I didn't think his philosophy fit with how this team plays. I think any of the bottom 6 guys making $1.5 mil or so can be dealt for players that are more energetic/gritty. Also, a big name needs to get moved to really shake things up.

08-09: $6.875m of a $56.7m cap = 12.1% of team cap

14-15: $8.5m of a $70.0m cap = 12.1% of team cap

The math proves that next year, his percentage against the cap will be exactly the same as it was when he signed his LAST contract in 2008-09.

Not to mention that the cap is going to continue to go UP over the next seven years.

Outside of the careless couple penalties he gained the zone with the puck, had a good forecheck, played like a hockey player who cared unlike anyone on our roster right now.

AV might not have been the best choice for this team but he is a good coach trying to get a mediocre team to win

Even with the obvious lack of NHL caliber scorers, these guys are playing some of the most timid, heartless and zombified hockey I've witnessed in the 25+ years I have watched hockey. It's like a Lifetime network rendition of the Walking Dead ...

During the Playoffs, everyone was over the moon with Brassard. This season Dorsett has been good for us.

We really cant keep comparing these players/trades through an infinite period of time. Players match up differently with different teammates and tactics, its just the way it is

The MONEY isn't the issue, other than tying so much of it up in the ONE player that could have netted quite a bit at the deadline if this team wasn't going to the playoffs.

Why would you re-sign a guy who's been nothing but loyal to you for all his years here to be potentially your only asset if you're going to do a rebuild?

Because they're not going to re-build.

They're going to overpay for third-rate free agents to come to New York and stink on ice, but not suck bad enough to get a 1st or 2nd pick. They'll play just well enough to miss the playoffs by 6 points and end up picking 10th, just like in the dark ages.

yup, keep the blinders on. add prust to the mix and mitchell and you have no legs to stand on. this team went to crap as soon as they dismantled the core 2 years ago. Its all there in black and white, people just refuse to see it.

Playing for this team is physically killing him, so for the sake of his health, he should get traded, someplace better.--thoughts on Cally
