And yeah I agree Aaron Kelly is replacement level :sarcasm:. Our receivers are sick, all 5 of them. This year is going to be good, we'll be there for playoffs much as I said yesterday. Can't wait.

Sample size. Great game against Burke's D playing almost entirely man coverage with no pressure on Willy, right up Kelly's alley to run up the rail and pull down some deep balls. When we're playing against the teams that run a base cover 2/3, those plays won't be available and he'll have to make plays coming into the field in tight windows between zones. If he has 5 or 6 games like that this season, it'll be a very good one for him and the Bombers offence, just haven't seen any kind of consistency from him in his career to this point to expect it.

Feoli-Gudino is a keeper. I bet the Argos are wishing they did more to keep him, even at the expense of a guy like Spencer Watt. Perfect SB, just knows how to break a route to get open, everytime I watch him play receiver I'm more impressed. He might emerge as our top NI receiver with Watson having trouble staying on the field and Kohlert being a steady 4th/5th option.

Wow what an awesome game last night. I know it's early but what a great show by the team. Feels totally new

I think I drove my neighbours crazy with how loud I was being during the game

I won't pull the I told you so card. You're right, small sample, and it is only one game against a weak D. But I stand by my words from before this game that Kelly will change a lot of peoples opinions this year. He had a very impressive camp and seems to have a knack for coming down with everything. I think he is going to establish himself as a top 10 receiver this year. But we can revisit that later, hopefully :)

Yeah very impressed with Feoli-Gudino too. Glad to see him have success. With Watson's injury issues he is going to see a lot of field this year. Looking forward to it

Almost everything about last night's game just looked completely different from last year. The new coach looks qualified and like he's on top of what's happening. The new QB looks like he can throw. The defensive coach looks like he's familiar with the Canadian game. Almost looks like a pro team... :handclap:

Well I was totally wrong about the team this year. I had them pegged for 3 wins again. I agree with most of the sentiments. Have a really good coach in O'Shea and finally have a QB.

Watching the CFL this year is going to be so much more enjoyable with a competitive team.

Great game. Would have been a perfect night if not for Watson. The guy just can't stay healthy. I really hole he can get over his injury issues.

If Kelly can make opposing D's respect him, that could really open things up for Moore and Denmark too. I just prefer a way more versatile type of WR in that boundary spot, like what Derick Armstrong became in his prime as a Bomber. He was almost entirely a long ball guy with the Riders but really developed after coming back with the Bombers from a few years in Houston. I wouldn't stop bringing in new guys till I found someone like that, and Romby Bryant isn't that guy at 34 either.

I think that's what they were hoping for from Urrittia. A little more aggressive play and physicality, and ability to do everything.

Kelly was also lining up a lot in the slot and made a couple shorter grabs over the middle yesterday. Looks like he will be a key figure in the passing attack. And you're right, if they have to respect him deep/ on the corner routes, should open the middle for Moore and Denmark.

I hope he keeps the play up

Wow. You watching Montreal? That's what we looked like the past few years, a team without a QB. Man they suck.

I guess this is what it feels like to be on the other side of a failure of a team, lol.

For once, the Bombers might not have the worst QB corp in the league.

Korey Banks has been released, crazy! The only thing I can think of is that he did something to piss of the Oshea and coach is showing everyone who's running the ship, and that no one is safe.

Geez. I wonder what was up with banks

Not performing?

Refused to accept his current role on the team, which would have been a designated import this week behind Johnny Sears. Likely to play 1/3 of the defensive snaps and one injury from starting, asked to be released.

Some leader.

yeah

I just read this

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Bombers--265118631.html

really unfortunate, I was looking forward to his presence on this team

that said, no offence to Banks, but I would probably take Sears over him too in that starter role. Sears was great vs. toronto

Sears was also one of the few bright spots on that poor 2013 team.

edit: this is one comment from the WFP section that I think speaks well to the situation (a rare comment that actually has some brains behind it and contributes something!):

When the Bombers were in the midst of signing him there was a lot of concern if he was too old, or that he had the ability to stay healthy. Guess what? He got injured in training camp and had others work hard to take his spot, it's the nature of the business. So now you put on your big boy panties, suck it up and work hard to gain your spot back and show people why you were signed in the first place. Asking for a release because you're not playing is not a sign of a leader. Coach O'Shea has worked hard to reintegrate discipline into this squad and I think I would have to side with him on this one.

Shame about Banks. I figured his veteran presence would have been good for our younger defense. Oh well.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan looks like a rainy version of hell. I know how they fell considering what the weather's been like here.

Too bad about Banks. Was hoping he would be a key versatile vet for the defence. Oh well, Unamba and Sears can more than cover his HB/LB role.

Wow am I am glad Bombers went with Willy and not Collaros now. I wanted one of the two, didn't really care which, in the off-season. Looking like Walters made the right decision. Hell for that matter Glenn looked very iffy in BC as well and I did really want him to challenge Willy. Looks like it was alright that we didn't get him.

It's amazing how stupid some pro athletes are, particularly football players because their contracts aren't guaranteed. Your window is only open a crack to earn a roster spot and have a career, and Banks has had a career, he should know he's on borrowed time.

Where does he think he's going to go and walk into a starting defense?
