Playing with Malkin has nothing to do with how he plays. Produces, maybe. Plays? Not a chance. This dude has skated hard since he put on a Penguins uniform. Always fighting for pucks and always finding ways to get himself into scoring position.

He deserves a lot more credit than anyone is giving him.

He's fine in a super supporty supporting role, and that's about the extent of it. He is the definition of an all tools/no toolbox player; big, strong, fast, hard shot, but in terms of hockey sense he's dumb as a post.

He goes to the right areas to score his goals so he can't be that dumb.

In the top 40 for goals per game in the NHL. He's having a pretty good year.

Good pickup. Guy has enough ability to score 20 goals and has proven it in the past. No doubt Malkin helped him a lot though. Guy in my mind is still sort of 2nd/3rd line player.

And yet he has the hockey sense to play with and read Malkin, which is no easy task.

That is the impression i got from him on long island as well. That endless circling of the net=Puck hog carrousel.

Martin has disappointed me this season on so many levels.

Ehrhoff has not yet played to his fullest.

The first 7 names Def better this season then him. He'd be #8.

Until Ehrhoff and Martin begin playing 9/10 games at there top pairing level then they can be better then Comeau.

11 ES goals this season. That's solid production.

1. Crosby 2. Malkin 3. Hornqvist 4. Perron 5. Letang 6. Maatta 7. Fleury 8. Sutter 9. Ehrhoff 10. Martin 11. Despres 12. Comeau

the last couple might be interchangeable, but definitely not 7-8th

Don't care how he faired in Calgary. He's playing terrific with Malkin and Hornqvist this season and has set himself up for a nice extension with the Pens or any other team for next season.

Sometimes you just find players you play well with. He's definitely got a little bit of the Talbot 09 going on where you just click at the right time.

If he continues to play well in the top 6, awesome. If he's bumped down to the 3rd line, just fine by me. Worst case he's on the 4th line and with the way he's been playing that would be a luxury.

Very happy to have him. Hope it continues. Amazing what these cheaper "show me" contracts will do :)

I would be okay if he got $1.2-1.5 money on a 2-3 yr deal. Anything above $2mil and we would have to talk.

He was awful in Calgary. That's all I remember. Everyone thought he was a great pickup at the time, but he really wasn't.

Not surprising. Calgary had a pathetic roster when Comeau was there. He's not a player that's going to drive an offense. Get him with the right players (Malkin) and he can provide you effective secondary scoring.

I bought in after his 2010-11 season. Won't dupe me again.

In all seriousness, not surprised that he's playing as a decent depth player with his skill set. Will see if it continues.

When he's on, he's one of the best middle 6 wingers in the league. He does a bit of everything. When he's off he's the most frustrating player to watch, because you know what he's capable of.

His biggest problem is he's one of those two 50 percent of the time, and it lasts long stretches. The most dangerous thing about him now is that someone is going to want to give him 4+ mil for multiple years. When a player with a contract like that goes almost half a season with 1 goal (like I believe he did here on the Island before), not many people want to keep that player around.

Hey I bought into the Comeau hype too, then realized he is a decent player with great tools but he does need someone to drive the play for him.

Always liked his skillset though. Speed, grit and shot was all fairly good. Can't forget those laps around the zone too :D

Comeau is Dupuis 2.0 lite IMO.

Does a lot of things good. Skates hard. Solid fundamentals. Busts his ass.

Hope "some" Pens fans don't give him the Dupers treatment.

Yeah, I really do see Comeau as Malkin's Dupuis, which isn't a bad thing. I'd be willing to keep him around as long as he doesn't break $2.5 million a season. He's a good tweener forward that fits well with Malkin, and even if he's slumping and gets bumped off Malkin's line, he's an ideal 4th line forward.

I can provide some good secondary scoring if you put me with Malkin too.

i don't know why this myth constantly gets tossed around here. you can't just plug any name next to 87 or 71 and assume point totals to increase exponentially. malkin has been saddled with all sorts of bums on his wing after comeau went down (mark arcobello the latest example) and they all contributed approximately nothing.

So I suppose you're a better NHL player compared to Arcobello, Rust, Spalling and all of the other players who have sucked on Malkins wing. Comeau has produced and been awesome since he's been here.

I understand he's sucked with past teams he's been on but the fact remains that we haven't seen it on the Pens and he's been awesome since he's been here.

We're certainly not reliant on Blake ****ing Comeau and so long as he's producing and gelling with Geno, he'll continue to be one of the best bargains in the NHL.

Who cares what he did in the past. He's on fire right now.

Not much of an evaluation, but I have always liked the kid's game... The production is a bonus, just like Jay Beagle's 2-goal effort last night in SJ. If these bottom tier guys can throw in a handful of games where they play like stars and give the actual stars support when they are not producing, that's all you can ask for.

His price tag goes up, but hopefully not to ridiculous levels and make everyone hate him.

really happy for Comeau. I was a big Comeau fan when he was an Islander, though he was a frustrating player at times. He struggled with consistency and never learned to simplify his game and was eventually waived but seems to have really found a nice role with the Pens. He's NOT a product of Sid/Geno at all IMO. I watch a fair bit of Pens games and Comeau (and Perron for that matter) have just played well - period.

Comeau always had a good shot, was rarely in positions to use it though. He played a lot on the perimeter, he carried the puck into nowhere far too often and got little results. I thought he had the potential to be a good bottom six defensive player if he changed his game and upped the work ethic, and he seems to have done that. He's become a pretty reliable depth winger who can move up and down the line-up and chip in offensively. Coincidentally, he's done for PIT (along with Perron) what Grabovski and Kulemin have done for the Islanders!

Happy for Comeau. I hope he doesn't bite the Isles back in the playoffs this year. That's right, I said playoffs.
