Lots of people acting like Kovalenlo is a grade A prospect just breaking out, and not a 25 year old getting 12 mins a night scoring at a 23 point/82 game pace.
I mean we need all the cheap useful talent we can get. He’s not some savior, but it’s not like we’re chock full of replacements for him right now.

We have a terrible injury problem that isn't gonna just magically go away, don't get rid of forwards that can actually score!

...then it's a good thing we got rid of Kovalenko.

4 goals in 28 games while getting plenty of 2nd line ice-time.

Ivan, for example, has 5 goals and plays center. Bigger, more versatile.

We dumped the right guy if the Sharks perceived him to have value.

I really thought it would cost a 1st to get rid of Georgiev, I guess since we don’t have a 1st, we had to give Kovy and a 2nd

I'm not over the moon given the price, but I don't mind the deal overall since we had to ship Georgiev out ASAP. He was too much of a wild card and his performances were hurting team morale as well as in the standings.

Sucks to see one of the first later-round pick success stories in a long time also included in the deal, but Kovalenko would never be anything more than a middle-6 option on a strong team, and TBH, Ivan Squared's performance made him redundant (not to mention the fact that the latter can slot in at center as well).

Another thing to remember; we might not be done with the goalie carousel just yet. Finding a team to take on Georgiev was only one side of the coin, now it's a matter of whether CMac is content with who he has. I wouldn't rule out another swap by the time the 4 Nations convenes, and either of the new Woods are easier to move.

Kovalenko and a 2nd for Blackwood along with 500K in cap space seems reasonable. Not amazing and not bad.
We’ll have to see how Kovalenko develops but I’m not sure there’s more than at best a 3rd liner there.

I don’t doubt Blackwood is a better goalie. At minimum, he’s been a significantly better goalie than AG this season.

It is what it is.....

Maybe the team starts to get going knowing we have at least goalie-material in net. And Wedgewood seems to be a great and beloved dude in the locker....Something Georgiev never really was....Lets be honest.

This trade also helps our locker-room....imho

How many goals do you expect him to have after 28 games in his first season? He's not a top 10 pick, but he's also not worthless either.

Pretty damning for them to trade Georgiev the day after he gets a shut out. The guy might top out as my most hate Avs goalie of all time. The fact we had to lose Kovy for him makes it worse. Worst Avs goalie ever.
lol someone didnt watch last nite eh?
