If he wants to make a move this is the time to do it. Whether he will or not I don't know. But they are still in such a good position to do something this year. If he can make a move then I hope he does.

If he doesn’t and we’re stuck with Andersen as our main option for the playoffs, we’re out in the first round as usual and he’ll be in the hot seat.
 
Need to start scoring the first goal again. We only scored first once in the last six games. Allowing the other team to score in the first 5-10 minutes is as good as spotting them a 1-0 lead to open the game.

It seems like the Leafs' skaters and Freddie are playing this bizarre game of chicken.

The players have quietly decided to cough up the puck repeatedly in expectation that Andersen will, for once, bail them out. Perhaps it's to boost his confidence or their confidence in him, maybe both.

Meanwhile Freddie has secretly decided that the best way to get his teammates to stop giving up bad turnovers is to let them all in. Perhaps his thinking is that it will force them to play tighter defensively or he's just doing it out of spite, maybe both.

We can only hope that soon one side catches on to the other and they stop playing chicken.

I really have to agree with this. I live out west and get to watch a lot of the western Canadian teams, as well as the eastern ones, and I really don't see much of a difference between most of the goals scored on Andersen, and the goals scored on other goalies. Sure goalies steal games, but it is so rare, for any team.

It blows my mind that 2 on 1's happen against the Leafs, the defender doesn't take the pass, it goes to the open guy, that player scores on an open net, and we blame Freddy.

I don't love or hate Andersen, I think he is an average goalie. The posters that were literally stating they felt more comfortable with Hutch in net before last game really proves that people on here let their ridiculous hate of Andersen get in the way of sensible thought sometimes.

If the Leafs were playing the bottom feeding Sens in a playoff series right now, we would be heading into game #7, with the series tied 3-3 based on the current 6 game sample set from the regular season results.

That series would include 1 game where Leafs were up 5-1 heading to the 3rd and losing 6-5.

The Sens are a bottom 5 team in the overall NHL standings playing -10 games below .500 hockey, with 21 points in 31 games and 10 wins and 20 losses while Leafs are looking for their 20th win and on 9 losses.

A hard fought 7 game series is not what one would expect from a team with Cup aspirations, particularly from an opponent that has Zero chance of making the playoffs.

There are no analytics that would support these expected results.

It's a function of how poorly his team has defended in front of him, a billion tips, cross crease passes, heck Dermott has been one man wrecking crew the last 3 games, with defence like him , you don't need enemies. Andys stats suck, but peel back the layers..

We know this defense isnt the best in the league but we have had worse and had better goaltending

They are not so uniquely bad defensively that Andersen's .900 is like a .920 anywhere else. It's ridiculous. There is no amount of context that can make .900 good.
