New look lines over the win streak:

Knies/Matthews/Marner:
xGF%: 65.71
Goal Differential: 80.99

Bertuzzi/Domi/Nylander:
xGF%: 47.46
Goal Differential: 62.59

Robertson/Tavares/McMann:
xGF%: 51.61
Goal Differential: 82.11

Kampf/Holmberg/Reeves
xGF%: 88.15
Goal Differential: 100.00

Some underlying numbers are meh but these might stick with the finishing chemistry. The 4th line had been absolute fire.

Reaves has been great since he came back, he's playing so smart too. He legit looks like a 4th liner, winning pucks, hard on the wall, defensively smart and he's actually getting around the ice fine. Quite surprising.

Some of us have been concerned the last few seasons about our left handed players as Tavares was declining. This season we've brought in Domi, Bertuzzi, Knives, McMann and Robertson. It took a while to get them acclimated but things are looking up.

Da Bert and Sammy show folks .. nice ring to it .. Bert banging in goals net front and creating open space for Domi and Willy to wheel with his wall work .. last night his stick work was very good too .. like I have been saying all year Bert with Domi and Willy is da perfect complimentary line and it will be our main line in playoffs - just watch and see .. playoff hockey is different than regular season hockey .. Sammy wow he kept us in game in 1st period when we should have lost da game .. that is what a big time ender does .. gives you a chance when you have a big dip and other team gets frustrated too .. and 4th line is looking much much better now with Holmberg on it .. we are creating a forecheck and playing in other teams end .. nice to see our 4th line contributing where it has been no show all year until now .. finally Keefer you got it right up front .. well done

Maybe not at the TDL, but Vegas also replaced the coach, brought in guys like Pietrangelo and Eichel, and made a number of other bold moves over the years the Leafs haven't had the balls to do.

Comparing Vegas to the Leafs is like comparing a grandmaster chess champion to a high school checkers player.
We've been a marginal contender for several years, and each year we mortgage more of the future on quick fixes that don't work.

Vegas didn't build at the TDL, but, as you say, picked up long term pieces at the right time.

Should we pay the high entry fee into the world chess championships for our high school checkers player?

They are not as far off as people think given abnormal development of Benoit .. and clearly moving Brodie to left side has made a huge difference in his game and Lilly's too .. and dropping Rielly to 3rd pair for defensive reasons and giving him o zone starts and PP time is working too .. really now we may only be missing a right shut down D to partner with Rielly as we will need his O in playoffs like last year .. bottom line it can't be Lagesson sorry .. and I have a ton of faith in Woll to carry team when things get really tough .. Sammy may melt down again (pretty likely) .. and Keefer has now fixed his forward lines to get best from all of them .. not saying they will win it but they have a fighters chance if they can help out Captain Morgan .. i mean it will require giving up Minten, Topi and maybe even a pick (some combo) but those guys are 3-4 years away and most of us older subscribers want to go for it

Who you callin' older? I'm only 71! :sarcasm:

I know what you mean, but I want an intelligent TDL move - if we can get a decent R-D with term for a reasonable price, great.

Term is the key here IMO. I don't mind parting with some futures for the right guy with term, but please please please, no pricy rentals.
He is now a trivia/fun fact answer. The only player ever to score a hatrick on his birthday
I think they said the only Leaf player ever on the broadcast.

Despite Samsonov having a good stretch lately bring his save% up to a sparkling .883 on the season, Id still love to see a big trade for a Saros-level keeper.

I know thats a gamble too but I cant shake the fact that no matter how good the team is playing, we havnt had an advantage in net in the playoffs since Belfour.

Only leaf player
One of the few Leafs records Matty will not be able to break.

holy shit guys I dreamt that Leafs won 3 cups in a row with Matthews, Nylander and then Marner winning Smythe

:crossfing
Weren't you also the same guy that dreamt he had a threesome with Katy Perry and Jennifer Aniston?

Bert has a long way to go. McMann is paid 20% of Bert and also scored a little on this trip. Bert needs to continue to help every game to earn that 5.5m. If he can then the team needs at the deadline are much different. No scorer needed, we go from needing a top 6 to bottom 6 and dman. Maybe we don't lose Minten or Cowan.

Would you give up a first for Tanev if he came extended for 2 or 3 years at the same price as Brodie?
