BTW, is there any question that Mika and a second for Brassard has supplanted McDonagh for Gomez (and whatever else was in that trade) as the greatest trade in Rangers history. McDonagh had that one great season but wasn't the player Mika is.

Trading for Messier is still the greatest trade in franchise history, IMO. Certainly the most important.

I think you mean supplanted? However, I would rank the first Mess trade 1 st and Mika not far behind.

I loved Gabby. Still one of the best free agent signings for this organization.

Gaborik, Richards, and Gomez were all pretty good free agent signings ex post facto, on account of we managed to get rid of all three at about the exact time that they stopped being worth their AAVs on their contracts.

Watching Gabby win the cup with LA hurt, but he was a middle six scoring specialist at that point, not a first line star player.
