It's amazing how much speed changes our look

+Chytil actually skating instead of being a passenger
+Vatrano
+Copp very strong in transition and moving the puck up
+Motte
+Brodz

Hopefully it holds, but even though they messed up against the devils you could still see (in the first period at least) the effect of a bit faster team with a bit more tenacity, and that is hugely important in the playoffs.

Vatrano, Copp, and Motte bring a bit of that speed and tenacity throughout the lineup that helps balance the sometimes tendency of the top guys to start slowing things down or pick spots instead of attack.

Pressuring pucks in both ends and turning it back up the ice quickly are just important to do against top teams and when the games get hard. Hopefully it continues.

The Rangers showed that not only can they win a game against their first round opponent, but more importantly, that they can legitimately beat that team.

I have no interest in limping through the playoffs. It's not fun for me.

I would feel much better going forward if we lost to the Pens in a tight series that could have gone either way, versus Igor winning four by himself before Carolina uses us as a toothpick.

If it were up to you hockey would be played with empty nets.

Even Hunt over Reaves is a significant difference in speed. It pains me because I love what Reaves brings to the team, but man when we have the guys to field a 4th line that can buzz around the ice and forecheck like last night, it makes it tough to decide when to sacrifice that in exchange for Reaves’ presence.

I’d feel much better if Igor won us 16 by himself than either of those scenarios

The only reason I find it tough is because Reaves seems like a likeable guy.

As far as on ice performance I can't wait to bounce him.

Mostly that he’s likeable, yeah. In the right situations he can be useful killing clock too. If he’s got the puck along the boards, he’s really tough to move off of it.

Last thing I want to see is Miller fighting. Want him in the lineup.

I can't think of a Rangers defenseman in my lifetime who improved this much from one season to another.
Slow your roll, there is fighting and sticking up for yourself.. Miller keeps progressing his physical game.. he will be challenged for intimidation..or he will really need to stick for our goalies!!

To some extent I think we forget that it's a lonnnnnnnnnng regular season and that it's OK sometimes to have a "suboptimal" lineup with someone like Reaves in it. Sometimes you're building towards the post season and it's not like everything is 100% on from day one of the season. Sometimes you need a tougher guy and line up just for the mental benefit.
When you get to the playoffs though I think you need more speed and tenacity than big hitting though

I wonder how long that wrist was bothering him and how it affected his performance

Kind of strange how quiet they've been about the whole thing
Yeah that's what I was thinking.

Granted, the Rangers are always like this, but he did look off while he was still playing.

Can’t wait for Kakko to be back.

I like him on a personal level more than Lafreniere. Kakko is like our first love. We won his lottery first.
