Weren't you the one leading the "Rossi sucks and he hasn't earned those minutes" charge earlier this year?

I promise you Hartman is not blocking Rossi
Yes, and at some point it’s put up or shut up time. Rossi isn’t learning anything in Iowa.

I promise you, Dean begs to differ.

Did you miss Guerin's interview on KFAN the other day? It was a great show, he was grilled by Barreiro

Some stuff Guerin talked about...

-He was asked why Rossi doesn't get a chance on the top line. He thinks he'll find Zucc and Kap in his office if it doesn't work out.

-He's worried about Kaprizov's future with the Wild, if he'll re-sign or not. It's obviously priority 1 for Guerin to do everything he can to keep Kaprizov happy here.

-The owner Craig Leipold wants Guerin to sign a big name at 1C when cap hell is over, but Guerin says no because he needs money to sign all those prospects coming up. Sounds like owner and GM don't agree on everything. So who's got the best plan?

thanks for posting. Definitely a bit tense at times. Guerin is not good at this, but I guess I prefer that to someone like Fletch who was as bad at GMing as he was good with the media.

A little odd for Guerin to bring up Mason Shaw as someone who's still with the team and then not be able to name a single guy he wants to step up next season.

I don't doubt that he's nervous about Kaprizov. Probably not very calming to stare down a "give me whatever I want or I go to UFA and you can't trade me" type of barrel.

I think Rossi needs a serious (10-15 games) chance at the top-6, but if he flounders there for longer than that, you need to take him off the role. He's right that, when you're trying to win games, you can't just leave them there no matter the result.

I actually liked his answer to what he'll do with the $15M. He understands that they would like to sign a #1 center, and hopes they find the right guy, but he is cognizant of the fact that they could hamstring themselves again with another huge signing of the wrong player. Great answer, and I hope it's sincere. It seems like it is.

I agree, Guerin doesn't look comfortable when he's facing the media. But he still always shows up when asked, I'll give him credit for that. He's even positive to let Netflix follow him around for a while, a hockey version of the quarterback series :D

At least Guerin didn't explode when Barreiro said he was disappointed in them and the Wild looked soft and easy in the playoffs. Or when he said the Wild's decision to play Fleury in the 2022 playoffs against the Blues was a stupid one.

im disappointed with the addison situation. (1.5 mill or addison should hold out) as for rossi i guess i'd play him on the 3rd line with duhaime & gaudreau. if hes doing great after 20 games then think about trying him top 6.

Since when is Barreiro an expert on the Wild? Would be shocked if he actually watched 10 games in the regular season. Like ESPN he should stick to bouncy ball.
He may not be an expert but he asked challenging and insightful questions. That's more than Mike Russo has done in the past ten years, with the possible exception of being a dick to Paul Fenton.

Are you bored? Here's more funny Guerin stuff, 1 hr at the MN State Fair.

Wonder how Kaprizov is doing? He stays in Florida with the Zuccarello family, loves being a babysitter :D

I’m in offseason mode so I’m not going to listen to the KFAN interview. What did he says specifically about being worried about Kaprizov resigning? He’s always struck me as the type of guy who is going to go somewhere else when he can. I don’t doubt that he likes it here but he hasn’t exactly been the easiest player to deal with to this point.

I only skimmed through the interview and I'm too lazy to click through it to confirm, but this is how I remember it:

Guerin was asked if he ever thought about doing a rebuild. He thinks players like Kaprizov might not want to stick around for a rebuild and that was one of the reasons why it never made sense to him.

So that just means he is philisophically opposed to rebuilds, thats a plus for me since I feel the same way.

Add on to that the fact that Guerin is probably a pain in the ass to deal with too, I easily see him leaving. Enjoy it while it lasts though.

Nope, I think he'll re-sign. I'd say Kaprizov is on a mission, he'll bring the Cup to Minnesota. He'll be the leader of all those promising young guys coming up, including a couple of Russians. And he'll hire Zuccarello as his personal manager, the bromance will continue

I think it's probably pretty simple, Kaprizov wants to earn his fair money, and he wants to win the Cup. So, if Guerin can pitch a clear vision for the Wild be a real contender in the near to immediate future, using the assets the Wild already have (in the summer of 2025), Kaprizov will stay. If the vision is muddled, Kaprizov will leave for a team with a clearer path to the Cup in 2026.

I'm sure he probably actually does like Minnesota, for what it's worth, but it's easy to like other places too, especially when you're winning there. This is all my own speculation, based on what I've seen and heard of Kaprizov and his personality.

As long as Kap is on this team no chance in heck i wanna "tank" or go for a rebuild, to me you gotta continue to try and build a contender. If he decides to leave when his contract is up im fine with having a some rough years if it means we can get some top notch picks. Just my .02 cents.

The Wild are the 6th best regular season team in the NHL since 2012, and every team above them as won a Cup. The teams behind the Wild are the Rangers, Predators, and Leafs. The Wild are The Cutoff Team for Cup Contenders.

I find that both emotionally taxing and mentally stimulating. There really is no other team quite like them in the league.

Fully agree. It's near impossible to tank with a talent like Kaprizov on the roster, and if you do manage to, he won't be on the roster much longer.

The silver lining to this cloud that is the massive cap hit penalties is that it is forcing BG to develop young ELC talent, and use restraint salary wise. He has made some minor goof ups such as the Goligoski extra year, but is otherwise sticking to the path, and has made some excellent signings such as the JEE, Hartman, and Gaudreau deals.

I am hoping that this all will bear fruit in 25-26 season, when we are out from under the cap penalties, more or less, and our top young prospects are starting to cycle into the lineup, hopefully in droves. Expecting a Cup contender before then seems overly optimistic, to me.
