Bill Guerin investigated for alleged abuse

..Michael’s Art Supply might supply broad brushes, but do they sell boot polish? Just wondering where you could get all your holiday shopping done at once.

Like- bro. This is a specific situation, who knows what happened, but holy class-warfare-siding-with-the-oppressor, the f*** are you saying? Ya man, the CEO of Yum brands is held to a higher standard than the cashier. If they insult someone’s lineage and threaten to kick someone’s ass that’s still unprofessional, you act like someone in his position would never do that.. bro, you are out to lunch on that one. Plenty of very powerful people are very messed up, they’re just better at hiding it than your regular worker.

Man, I’m just gonna blame Andrew Tate or the Ottawa Senators or somethin for that one, holy shit my guy.

“Siding with the oppressor…..”

Sure dude, whatever you say

People like this usually think it’s okay to yell at your boss, or accuse them of abuse, or call them racist, or whatever lies they want to spin to keep the job they’re incompetent at.

But a boss demanding a higher standard of performance from a subordinate is WAY OVER THE LINE!

This is where this ‘power dynamics’ ideology is screwing people’s brains up.

There is already a higher standard of behavior for leaders and a much lower standard for subordinates.
A boss doing what you suggest is not only acceptable but it's a core part of their job.

The thing is, it has to be done professionally.

"Strangle, your performance over the past year has been unacceptable by these metrics"

Vs

"I think you're a lazy piece of shit"

Not suggested anything about you, just trying to illustrate a point about respectful and appropriate communication between a boss and a subordinate

Silly opening sentence aside, ever stop to think why people in positions of power are held to a higher standard than those who aren't?

He yelled at a guy and that’s it? It’s a hockey club. It’s not a kindergarten.

The poster that said Tour manager is perfect analogy.

A 10 year employee in this role will have dealt with plenty of “direct” feedback, I doubt they could be a wilting violet and survive one season with thin skin.

No, I get it.

What people don’t take into account is that more often than not it’s the complainant making a baseless complaint in a last ditch effort to save their own skin.

Of course I understand why, that’s why I said it.

However, when it comes to abuse it shouldn’t matter. But due to twisted power dynamic thinking, people are way more okay with an employee abusing a superior than the other way around.

The point is that no one should abuse anyone in a workplace. I could tell some stories, man lol

I don't think there is a very large contingent of people who think it is reasonable to abuse your boss. I would be curious to see what you have outside of anecdotes to demonstrate otherwise.

How does O’Hearn tie into this, or separate issue.
Great question. We are being told that it is separate. If so, that makes it even worse, as it implies that there is something wrong with the management culture overall, as opposed to one, isolated incident involving three people.

I mean, what are the odds that two separate incidents just happen at nearly the same time, and that everything else has been just fine in the previous 5 years?

if they could fire him with cause i assume they wouldn't have to pay out his contract, is that correct?

In this thread: Bill Guerin raised his voice.
Guerin has the biggest ego in hockey and has had words with anyone who dared to speak up. I can’t think of a less likable guy in hockey. Now imagine working with him everyday and it’s easy to see where the smoke is coming from. From what I hear, he’s been that way as a player and while he worked for pens. Huge swing and a miss for you but I bet you felt tough when saying it

We we have Foligno, Mojo, Hartman, Zuccarello and Goligoski signed until they are 40 - does that not qualify as cause?

So just so I'm clear, not taking shit from other people in the work place is the soft behavior?

Weird.

I would have thought the cowering in silence and just taking it would be considered the "bootlicking, beta, cuck" behavior.

Seriously, we’ll wait to see what the allegations are, but it’s incredible how many people don’t understand what the charge is. Dude coulda potentially screamed racist death threats and folks would be like “ah, yelling, oh no!”
