Yeah, in NHL and MLB I tend to do the scouting and wind up simming my drafts because the resulting information doesn't actually help me make decisions. It doesn't help that MLB in particular drops or alters some of the information (unless I'm missing something). MLB ETA disappears entirely and the potential overall gets translated to a letter grade. So you wind up with guys with like A potential who aren't supposed to reach the majors for 15 years.

NHL's drafting and development has been a joke for years. Most players, even top 5-10 picks, seem to take 5+ years to develop (but players with decent potential wind up getting close to it almost always, so a total bust of a 1st rounder will wind up with an 80s OVR when he's 27 and you traded him for peanuts three years before) and the CPU-generated drafts are insanely shallow. Though I've heard they improved the latter in 15 (maybe only on previous gen)? The main problem with NHL scouting is that it forces you to scout 100s of players en masse.

Meanwhile in Madden I drafted a potential franchise QB late in the second or third round (I forget exactly at the moment) thanks to scouting (and a little luck). The one time I tried - based on need - taking a guy I hadn't scouted, I got burned. That's good stuff. Honestly, everyone else should just rip it right off.

I drafted Roethlisberger's heir apparent in the 2nd round. Halfway through his rookie year he's up to an 81 OVR.

My middle rounds were largely useless, though...left too many players at positions of need unscouted and I got burned on guys I didn't scout. I did get a 78 OVR RB in the 5th round, though.

Can anyone offer me some landlord advice?

Last weekend I let the realty company know that I think something is living in the walls/ceiling. They said they'd look into it. The landlord stopped by last Friday for me to show him around. He said to keep them updated.

Sunday I saw the rat run across my kitchen floor and into a small crevice near the floor cabinets. I emailed the company right then. Then, yesterday morning, I saw it again and emailed them again. And this morning at 4:30, I heard a bunch of noise in the ceiling above my bed and then a small shriek.

They haven't even placed any poison or traps anywhere. Is there a way for me to get out of my lease or to not pay September's rent?

The NHL series for a very long time has been a joke. It's just not enjoyable, the game is the definition of insanity.

It's repetitive and people expect it to be different each time, but it's never different, it's the same **** over and over. They make the same game over and over and expect people to fall for the bs that it's different when it's not.

- Scouting sucks.
- Simulation sucks.
- It does not even come half as close to being as good as FIFA or Madden from the same EA Sports company.
- It's slow, insanely slow with loading times. I bought the last NHL game for my Xbox One and holy crap, it loads like the old consoles, the game is not smooth whatsoever. The game play is terrible, the graphics are nice but not nearly as nice as FIFA and Madden and why? Why isn't it? What graphic detail is too hard to translate for an NHL game where they can do such an amazing job with Madden and FIFA but fall so far off the mark with NHL?

FIFA & Madden have cult like statuses for how much people love those games and I can see why, I have friends that are a huge fan of FIFA and while I am not a fan of soccer/futbol, I love Madden and while my interest in the NFL has waned a ton the last few years, I enjoy that game immensely because of how immersed you are with your franchise and game play, you're very hands on, but the disconnect with those 2 Gaming franchises vs the NHL one is massive, like Earth & Sun's distance massive.

NHL is just...there. It exists because we're stupid and we buy that piece of garbabe.

It pisses me off.

In other news, I bought the Samsung Galaxy Note Plus 12.2 today, well online, it arrives tomorrow. Pretty excited for it, passing on my 10.1 to my gf since she wants a tablet and I am a care freak with my gadgets so it's still pretty brand new (hell I got it 3yrs ago and I still have the box and everything).

Yay for a new toy.

Boo to EA and their NHL game.

Boo to me for neglecting my consoles too, what a dick I am.

I agree with a lot of this, but I actually think the later PS3 NHL games were really close to being genuinely great, gameplay-wise. Defense needed some work, the mind-boggling inability of human-controlled players to pick up uncontested loose pucks needed to end. They needed to fess up that their games are built on '90s style rubberbanding in the final minutes and take that **** out. Can't tell you how many times I lost/tied games on wristers from the blueline in the last minute. Goalie play was appalling. They kept advertising tweaks to it but the basis didn't change for years. I have no idea why every goalie would do a split to stop a 75 foot shot/errant dump attempt. Would it have killed them to build a goalie system that was meant to reflect real-life save %s or something? My biggest annoyance with the series was occasionally scoring 4 goals on 30 shots (half of which were really good opportunities) and losing to a team that scored 5 times on 15 shots (five of which were good, but of course those were actually saved). Oh and I was leading 3-1 or something going into the third. The combo of bad goalie play and favoring trailing teams late was so annoying. Oh, and franchise mode was about 10 years behind everyone else and desperately need a complete overhaul. I also swear they deliberately handicap the best players because they couldn't design a game that made sense. You'd see guys like Crosby constantly hack one-timers on open nets 5 feet wide. Meanwhile Craig Adams would bury it and then come right back and snipe one. Nevertheless, I played those games a lot and genuinely liked them.

Somehow, though, PS4 NHL 15 was an absolute disaster. I should have seen it coming after all the bad press, but I was shocked at how bad it was and how bad it stayed after the patches. Everything got worse, except the graphics. Even some of those improvements were mystifying. Since when have hockey jerseys fluttered like they were skating in a wind tunnel? Either way, half of the features disappeared (even after they restored some) and every game is something like 7-5 or 1-0. I once lost a game to the Rangers 2-1. Tanner Glass scored both of their goals and they were both highlight reel material. That game was worse than the early PS2 games that almost killed the series because they swung way too far towards arcade crap. Only this time it's being sold as a simulation.

And you get these dudes on forums who say **** like, "Learn to play D," when you complain about all the crap that happens. Well, that's bogus because the game shouldn't only "work" if you're an obsessive player. Also, it's hard to play D correctly when every single CPU controlled player on my team flees the slot like it's illegal to be there and chases the puck-carrier out of position. Also, when the CPU throws a blind pass through the crease, where I'm perfectly position to block or intercept, it will go through my stick, skates, legs, whatever and go right to one of the three open attackers my teammates have left unmolested. Meanwhile my goalie did the splits against the near post as soon as the pass was released.

Also the hitting system is totally broken. At this point it might as well be deliberately designed to draw penalties for human teams. Especially with the left stick hitting. I can't tell you how many times I've drawn boarding majors while trying to pin a guy because the game launches into a crushing left stick hit animation right as I'm pressing triangle. And if you're not committing a penalty, you bounce off the guy and glide 10 feet out of position while he skates on like nothing happened.

****. It's a totally broken game. I almost wonder if anyone who works on it has ever watched hockey. I have a hard time believing it's actually designed in Canada. They really need to fire that whole team.

My understanding is that tenants tend to have a bit of leeway and legal grounds to withhold rent if the landlord fails to provide a livable place. I would check up on tenants rights or speak to a lawyer before doing anything, but declaring that you believe you have the right to withhold rent might be enough to get them to act.

Went to the cigar store today and treated myself to two nice tins of mini cigars. One for $27 for 10 of them and one for $16 for 10 of them.

So far the Panter mini cigars that I got in the tin for $27 are fantastic. Sure they aren't Cuban and are only a 10-15 minute smoke, but I find them just as enjoyable (if not more so) than some of the bigger Cubans I've had over the years.

Major Help Needed ASAP.....

Hi all,

So apparently a bunch of suites (including mine) on the floor of my apartment complex need to be sprayed for bedbugs. This sadly means that according to the preparation package I got on my door, I need to take all of my jerseys out of my closet (along with my other clothes) and wash and dry them...

Since I've never washed a jersey before, I just have a few questions...

1. What's the best way to wash a customized CCM 550 replica jersey?

2. What's the best way to wash a Lutch replica KHL jersey with subliminated name and numbers?

3. Most importantly, will putting my jerseys in the dryer on delicate cycle be ok??? Now I've read that jerseys in a dryer is a huge no-no and if I were to wash a jersey under any other circumstance...I would just hang dry it. But since being in a dryer will kill any potential bedbugs around (if we have any) I have no choice but to put each of my jerseys in a dryer. Am I gonna ruin any of my jerseys on delicate???

Doesn't any potential bedbugs die if you put the jerseys in the freezer?
