So... he doesn't help at face-offs.

I can live with a 5% drop at face-offs when I'm getting a massive upgrade in overall talent.

Respectfully isn't he like 39 percent @ face-offs? I think my question is isn't face-offs one of the big issues to bringing in a c? Also with strome, isn't he a free agent?

He's 45% this year.

I'm less concerned about face-offs than I am about the other 99% of his time on ice.

I'm fine with him being a free agent. It's just an upgrade for this playoff run and Rossi will get his spot next year.

Go big or go home! So many good options ripe for the picking this deadline….hertl/giroux/miller/pavelski

wild have such a good core that a legit top 6 centre would make them that much better.

It's a big topic of discussion on the Wild board. Some are willing to go for the Miller/Girioux/Hertle's of the world as long as it doesn't cost an A prospect( Rossi/Wallstedt/Boldy), and some don't want to even give up the likely late first.

This thread is about the not giving up the first option.

this idea smacks of the "Addison is better than Benn why aren't we playing addison" mentality which completely ignores how the coach wants to deploy players or how he envisions a line/pairing playing.

Stastny would be a downgrade one for one right now IMO. other considerations like player movement for navigating the cap crunch might make it desirable somehow but Freddy Hockey seems to be playing the way coach wants him to. I don't see any upgrades that cheap would be worthwhile.

Jonathan Drouin isnt necessary the ideal guy to play C but if a 2nd is all youve got to offer he could be a fit (hasnt played primarily C since 16-17 I think tho)

Drouin has another year on his contract so it would require retention. I don't think Drouin is the style of player that would succeed in the Wild system. They strike me as valuing "being hard to play against" and that isn't really Drouin's style.

of course an avalanche fan would think that.
In this poker/hockey analogy they're face cards. Good players but not unbeatable pre flop by any means.
Pocket aces is the best hand, thats a McDavid level player, not Zuccarello, Boldy, and Fiala.

My fandom has nothing to do with pointing that out

your problem is youre taking individual players and grading them by a poker hand, where as im taking the line as a hand. sure, drai and mcdavid would be a pocket aces hand, but so would the kaprizov zucc line. and since boldy has been up, the boldy fiala line would be somewhere between kings and queens in terms of production.
