Cirelli/Sergachev/Cernak are all due for big raises in 2023. Tampa will almost surely have to jettison at least one of them in addition to letting Killorn and/or Palat walk. This off-season, depending on how Tampa decides whether they want to try to keep Palat on board, there may be something to be done around Bert & Hronek for Cirelli & Sergachev.

Why Tampa would entertain that? They get the best player in the deal and 1 extra year of cost control courtesy of Hronek's contract. Relative to Cirelli/Sergachev (and their incoming 7.2mil qualifying offers), Bert & Hronek would open up about a half mil in cap space next season, more than 6mil in 23-24 (assuming they'd extend Bert at ~8mil per) when Cernak and Colton are due for raises, and beyond that Bert & Hronek's combined hit will probably be 1-2mil less than Cirelli & Sergachev's. Losing Cirelli would leave a little bit of a hole down the middle but there's still Stamkos and Point to cover while Colton and Joseph continue building off the strides they're making this season. Hronek should be at least as good a fit on the right side as having Sergachev play his off side.

Detroit does this because they need a 2C and partner for Seider, and Yzerman happens to be familiar with the counterparts.

Tampa does not do this trade unless Julien Briesbois is a secret agent for Steve Yzerman. Since he's not, Tampa does not entertain this offer for a second.

Weird question, Tampa's cap compliant with a fully healthy roster this year and have 6.5M to sign like 4-6 players next year
If you ignore the game where they iced just 4 defensemen...
Likely a flat cap next season and they've only got that space if they bid Palat adieu

Bert has highest WAR among these pieces and Hronek the lowest. Wings already drafted Edvinsson to be Seider's future D partner, and are stacked with LD prospects as is. Cirelli would be a nice upgrade on Suter at 2C and Bert's production could potentially be replaced by Vrana. Losing Hronek hurts Wings right side a little but Lindstrom has shown he might be capable of a top 4 role. It's actually a pretty fair deal imo

You think Bertuzzi and Hronek will be cheap on their next deals? Bertuzzi you're looking at 7 x $7,000,000 at the very least and Hronek will get Fowler money in the range of either 7 or 8 years in the $6,500,000 range.

In Tampa they might shave a little off their open market price. They're not going to be cheap, but vis-a-vis Cirelli and Sergachev who will need to be qualified at 7.2mil each and have arb rights...

I'd be shocked if Tampa will be able to hold unto both Cirelli and Sergachev long term, I've to imagine that Sergachev will be eventually out the door. Could be wrong but i don't see them being able to hold unto both players long term.

not convinced this is true.
Cirelli is a C and has been effective anywhere in lineup.
His counting stats may trail Bert, but he plays behind Point, and TB has scoring throughout their lineup

Likely a flat cap next season and, depending on how the variants/sub-variants develop, the NHL may be looking at a 4th straight season of relatively suppressed revenue, so one shouldn't count on the cap going up much for 23-24 either. Even if they let Palat and Killorn go for nothing, how does Tampa fit 2.5-3mil raises for each of Cirelli & Sergachev, a 2-2.5mil raise for Cernak, and 1-1.5mil raises for Colton & Foote all in the same off-season? Roll with a 16-man roster?

Detroit says no as they lose the best player in this deal with no real value coming back the other way in terms of top-6 goal scoring.

Detroit says yes to this deal, because Cirelli is a C which is a bigger need for the Wings than losing Bertuzzi as a wing opens up and Sergachev is better than Hronek.

Horrific value for Tampa. They’d find much better offers elsewhere if these players are traded.

For example? Who is going to trade away their cap-controlled contributors for soon-to-be fully priced Cirelli and/or Sergachev in way that allows Tampa to continue with "win now" while also navigating their coming crunch?

Los Angeles, give us the Sergachev please.

Turcotte + Walker + Anderson-Dolan?

The bigger need is to find goal-scoring. The D will come from who we already have drafted and developing. So then it becomes a question of, "Is Cirelli better than Bert?," and the answer is an easy no.
