Idk if this rumor is true but one thing is for sure...florida needs to sell and recoup some assets this year for their cupboard.

This season is done for them

Dater is probably just talking out of his ass per usual, but what would the cost be? He'd be a great fit.

What's with the 'Bennett to Colorado' title? Dater isn't alleging he is going there. He's just saying the Avs have inquired.

It seems logical the Avs would want to try and get a center with some term. Not 100% sure they would trade Girard without getting another D man in the deal and/or doing another trade.

Take EJ and Girard out of the lineup and the bottom pair is really sad. Hunt, JJ, and MacDermid are meant to be your 7-8-9 D men, not the 3rd pair. Yeah, you probably get EJ back in the playoffs, but that means one of the three play real minutes, not to mention 2 of the 3 if there is any type of injuries.

What is the pure futures going rate for Bennett?

- Girard for Bennett
- 1st + Newhook for Chychrun

Lehkonen - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Landeskog - Bennett - Nuke
eRod - Compher - Malgin
Cogliano - Helm - LOC

Toews - Makar
Byram - Chychrun
J. Johnson - Manson

I have no idea how the Avs afford that roster next year. But Byram - Chychrun is better than half the league's top pairings.

A. It's not a rumor.
B. Not much to sell. Maybe Reinhart and Duclair, but I don't see either happening. This year was a mess due to the Yandle buyout taking up cap space, Injuries to key players throughout the season, Marc Staal in the top 4, goalies playing poorly...plenty to work on, but zero need to burn it down.

Toews maybe

I'd do it. The Avs probably don't, but I would.

Toews and Bennet have similar term left on their contracts. Byram is ready to step up and be Makar's partner, and Girard makes more sense than Toews long term for the Avs. I'd imagine for Florida, Toews is a more ideal piece than Girard.

Toews would work

Toews maybe
What's the add if you're insisting on Toews?

Honestly, if this were a deal and Toews was a piece involved, there's no way it happens at this point. They're too reliant on him. It would be more of an offseason transaction.

Or what about draft picks? You have no 1sts. What about 2 1sts?

There wouldn't be an add from Florida.
Toews (as great as he is) has 1 year left and Bennett has 2 years left.
Thats the trade, 2 yrs of a decent 2C for one year of a #1/2D.

Otherwise, Girard or 1st + Newhook are of no interest for Florida

You're simply wrong. Toews is the more valuable player. You're overvaluing one year. Toews is also on a team friendly contract. And again, I'll point out that by the time Sam Bennett's contract ends, he'll likely be Florida's 3C due to Lundell's ascension.

Toews is one of the top 10 LHD in the NHL. Bennett is a "decent 2C". The extra year of term doesn't really chance the difference in value.

Have had this discussion with some other COL fans, nobody is arguing Toews isn't the more valuable player but if you were to value Toews in strictly picks, it'd likely be a 1st + 2nd + prospect and that's damn close to what Florida would want for 2 years of Bennett.

If you want to debate Toews coming with extension in place then that's a different story.
