Brayden Point was definitely not a burner when he was drafted. A big reason he was drafted where he was. Not sure why were comparing him now to a 19yo Bedard.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, possibly getting him and Kucherov mixed up, I don't know.Brayden Point - The Next Ones: 2014 NHL Draft Prospect Profiles

It's the top thing reports of him were praising
this is the thing that concerns me about Bedard's skating

Bedard's top speed is only slightly better than Strome's, not to mention the size difference.
Nobody is saying thisobviously time to trade bedard
Yeah ok what happened? Now go check Bedards last year top speed!!
Yep. Generational bust. Oh well...obviously time to trade bedard
Made more impressive by how seldom his team wins
That’s all fair but this team is also ass and he doesn’t get a lot of time or space to get shots off. The whole team can key in on him when we’ve got the puck in the opps zone.Maybe I bet shot prop overs too much in my free time, and he's definitely picked up his production slightly of late with the help of some apples, but he needs to shoot the puck more. I'm not sure if it's his age, or the system, or feeling like he needs to be unselfish at times to defer to veterans, but he's got to start letting it rip more. He's been playing with a blender of linemates and maybe they don't do the best job creating him time and space or driving possession. However, how are you going to score if you're only putting the puck on net once or twice a game? He's only shot the puck more than twice one time (4 at NYI) in his last eight games, with three of those being zero or one shot on net. He's got a bright future, but I want him to start realizing he's the most talented player on the ice for his team and has the best shot. Sick of watching him make a dish and one of plugs or struggling players do nothing with it. Rip it, kid.
That‘s why I am not GM…sending the only twenty point scorer on the third worst goals per game team in the league down to a farm team that's fifth in its division and lost six of its last ten is genius. get this man a gm job.
Bedard has a long way to go to become an elite top NHL scorer.Bedard has a long way to go to be an elite top op NHL scorer..
Yes..Only 19 ..so therevusxthat
Yes..no top linemate legalize linemates to form dynamic duos..
There are signgle elite scorers doing most of it themselves...eg.Kaprizov..
Or there 2 elite scorers together who feed and help each other score like McKinnon and Rantanen .
Bedardchas no other YETto form a dynamic duo on a top line.
However IF by the time he is 23 he still is only a 66 pts pace uiy..then Chicago has a problem.
Also C or W ?
If he cannot improve on draws then maybe using him C is not his future.Bedardchadconebofvhos better nights in the dot ladt night (40%) but that still not good enough...you gotta start with the puck...especialky on POs...
And if Nazar loses all his drawsvl.like ast night vs.Washington (0/ 7) then hev oo cannot be one of top 2 centers. Unless we hacecwibgerscwho also excel in the dot..Butvusualkybin the NHL centers take the draws...startingninno-zobecwithoutvtyevpuck is not ideal.

Yes, he's only 19, so there's that.
Yes, he doesn't have top-line mates yet to form dynamic duos.

If he cannot improve on faceoffs, then maybe using him at center isn't in his future. Bedard had one of his better nights in the dot last night (40%), but that's still not good enough. You’ve got to start with the puck, especially in the playoffs.
And if Nazar loses all his draws, like last night against Washington (0/7), then he too cannot be one of the top two centers. Unless we have wingers who also excel in the dot. But usually, in the NHL, centers take the draws. Starting in the offensive zone without the puck is not ideal.

At this point Bedard can still finish around a ppg, which is still very very promising long term for a 19yo
The lack of progression is a little concerning but hopefully he steps it up as the season goes along and he gets out of his head
Agreed. I'd also like to see him more selfish and shoot the puck more often..... sometimes just for the rebound. What Bedard should improve next summer is explosiveness in his skating. Make those first three strides faster and that would benefit his play a lot and make him even more dangerous. Skill is there, IQ with vision is there..I´m not worried at all that he won´t be a really special offensive player. Look at MacKinnon´s first four seasons point totals: 63, 38(64gms), 52 and 53.

Bedard's first few strides are not a problem and are in fact a strength.
