historic collapses that almost no team has ever had, two coaches fired with HR involved. Another HC inheriting a QB with a GM that may or may not have hired him. Yeah.. bears gonna bear

Is it even settled Warren is keeping Poles? Seems odd to proclaim as if that can be said

We really had a chance to be the top destination for a new HC that can actually help a new QB and we're are gonna blow it on this glorified DC I'm gonna kms.

Some of you will probably have a heart attack at this thought. But they probably need to give him an xtension if they want any chance at a legit OC coming here.

Poles has turned this roster over astonishingly fast in just 2 drafts - one of which he didn't even have a first round pick. And he engineered what looks like it will be an all-time great trade.

Warren would be out of his mind to consider dumping Poles, IMO.

Flus hired a DC that did a terrible job and then got fired by HR. Whose to say he can even pick a good OC, even with an extension.

I think Poles has done a decent job. More good than bad for sure. If he keeps Flus and Fields after what we’ve seen this year, idk man

Welp. Maybe he can manage to coach the team to another couple of historic 4th quarter collapses in the last two games and change people's mind? He's managed three so far this season, so it wouldn't be out of the norm.

If they bring Getsy back, you gotta keep Fields, trade back and get an extra first as ammunition for 2025 QB. I don't trust Getsy to work with Williams. If they bring in a new OC, take Williams, and hope to get one of Nabers, Odunze, Bowers with the 2nd pick.
I've heard this speculation before, that it doesn't make sense to get rid of Getsy if they keep Fields because he'd be learning a third playbook.

But really, does it make any sense to keep Getsy under any scenario? You're either trotting out the Fields-Getsy duo for a third year in a row, when there has been no indication that they can get anything going together, or you're giving an OC who is already on the hot seat after two failed years offensively a rookie QB.

I would hold the DC thing more against him if the defense had fallen apart. But they've turned in to one of the better defenses in football. I don't want that to be lost.

I think Montez Sweat's comments a few weeks ago are telling. He said how in Washington guys were already ready for the off-season, where he then came here, and despite the bad record, the team was all working hard together and fighting. And they're finally starting to bear fruit from all that labor. It would feel insane to me to want to blow that up now.

I agree with you that Fields is not the long term answer at QB. Where we probably disagree a bit- is I'm open to more than just Caleb or Drake. There might be 5 first round qb's this year...and If they zero in one one of the lesser pimped qb's and make a move down to get that guy - I'm ok with that.

Penix is 24 and has two ACLs blown already. Thats a no go. It has to be Daniels, Drake or Caleb. If you're trading down then its essentially Daniels. McCarthy's line of work on a stacked team isn't a rookie QB you play year 1 (Which they would be doing). They didn't even really utilize his skill set at Michigan anyway. They just ran the ball and played defense. We'll see what he does against Bama as I expect they'll have to throw to beat them.

Keeping Flus is just like keeping Fox and drafting Mitch or keeping Nagy and drafting Fields. Its just not what you do in the NFL to be successful and frankly he's done more than enough to get fired anyway.

The 5 of 6 wins they have this year are against legit garbage teams or teams starting backups.

Commanders (ass)
Cardinals (ass)
Vikings (Josh Dobbs)
Raiders (Brian Hoyer)
Panthers (16-13) @ Home.. (ASS)

The defense got better, I agree. Its EPA is #1 since week 6. They've also had an insanely light schedule and at the end of the day he's done nothing to say we should buck the NFL timeline of matching your GM with the HC with QB. He isn't anything special as a HC.

Clearly they are finally learning how to close out games and there's still a lot of work to be done. But they carried the play handily in both Lions games and carried the play against Cleveland - who now some people are talking about as a Super bowl contender.

Agree on McCarthy. His game against Alabama could decide whether he's a top 6 or 7 pick, or goes mid 2nd round or lower.

But back to the Bears. They're growing. Lets not forget they ripped this whole thing down last year and tanked for a high pick. That part worked out.

I dont understand what some people were expecting to happen this fast in a teardown rebuild? It feels to me like they're ahead of schedule, but some of you guys just want to fire everybody.

I mean they just blew a 4th quarter league against Cleveland and looked shaky and had people saying, "here we go again" against the Cardinals. Also.. did you happen to look at who they beat this year on this "great" run for Flus. Aka.. the Lions and then a bunch of trash.

I just think the rebuild is just about over now. This roster is pretty solid. Thanks Flus for the good locker room culture now lets get a better QB and a better HC.

You would be a tough boss to work for.

I don't think expecting my HC to not coach his team to three historic collapses in one season is a lot to ask for.

A lot of people were picking Fields for MVP and there were expectations on this team. That is why people were so upset about week 1 vs the Packers. He is literally the 2nd losing-est HC in Bears history. I'm not sure what I'm saying that is so controversial.

Well, on the "positive" side, then they could later clean house--Everlose, Poles, and Warren, if those latter two were fully on board with this retention decision.

I'm not for blindly keeping Flus. I'm definitely against keeping Getsy. But, year one was a complete teardown. Year two was learning how to win. Year three is the pivotal year in a rebuild.

And those expectations, they were laughable to me. I had them 6-7 wins. They had zero DE's to start the season and mediocre and young questions at DT. They added one quilty DE during the season, and all of a sudden things are clicking. The offense has a patchwork interior Online, and one target on the outside, with a mediocre backfield. There's still roster building to do before we can expect wins.
