I think realistically they only need another WR that can compliment DJ, as he's elite. Someone on his level would obviously be nice, but I don't think it's necessary. Say a guy who can run a 65 catches for 800+ yards and 5-6 TDs line.
Maybe Courtland Sutton?

I'm more than a little worried about how much this team's improvement is a mirage caused by their opponents this year.
I feel like some of you are just reaching for reasons to doubt this team.

This was Atlanta's most lopsided loss of the season. No other team dominated Detroit twice - yeah they choked one of them away.....

They have something special brewing IMO.

They by all rights should have beaten Denver, Cleveland, and Detroit the first time. 2 of those 3 are playoff teams. I think the improvement of the team is not a mirage at all; it was just development from a team level that people just expected to happen right off the bat (myself included).

I like the team. In particular, I like the defense post Sweat trade. I'm not doom and glooming, it's just a nagging worry I've had.

They have 1 win against a playoff team this year. They beat (at this point in the season):

The last overall Panthers
The 2nd last overall Commanders
The 4th last overall Cardinals
The 9th last overall Falcons
The 11th last overall Raiders
The 14th last overall Vikings

And the legitimately good Lions. Currently 6th overall.

Then again, they threw away wins multiple times.

But yeah, the strength of schedule making this team seem better than it is is a much bigger worry for me than the Bears messing up the situation with the #1 overall pick. I hope it's not. There are certainly signs that they are really good, and will get better, on defense. The defense has to be among the youngest in the league, and I think Stevenson and Dexter have been much better toward the end of the season and will carry that into the next one.

We'll see. I assume next year's schedule will be tougher. Then again, I think next year will have a better passing offense and another edge opposite Sweat which should mean the defense is really good from the beginning and doesn't allow 137 points in their first 4 games.

Panthers last 7 games:

1 TD for, 10 points scored
1 TD for, 10 points scored
2 TD for, 18 points scored
0 TD for, 6 points scored
0 TD for, 9 points scored
3 TD for, 30 points scored
0 TD for, 0 points scored

Man, the Packers D is hilariously bad. I hope this continues.

The Bears have a bunch of cap space and will have more after cutting Whitehair and (presumably) Jackson. Because they're sitting on picks #1 and #10, their effective cap space right now is ~$40M, up to ~$60M after those two cuts.

Needs: G (backup), T (backup), C (starter), FS (starter), WR2, WR3, Edge (starter), 3T (?), P (starter), TE (backup).

SOS is essentially meaningless in the NFL, honestly. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day.

Atlanta's defense was pretty good and the Bears shot it to pieces. I think most of us expected around 4-5 wins this year. Less after the 0-4 start where they looked clueless.

They've improved and let a couple games get away from them or they'd be a playoff team. I don't think anyone expected that. They have two top picks and a lot of cap space. I like it.

Trade down. Even if Williams and/or Maye turn out to be studs, we would’ve ruined them.

Collect a haul, fix other areas, and hope Fields gets better or we land someone else in free agency down the line.

Imagine getting MHJ and Bowers.

DJ Moore, MHJ, and Bowers would put huge pressure on teams pass defenses.

I disagree. I think MHJ is a unique elite WR. He has all the attributes to have the same effect that Jefferson does for the Vikings. Having MHJ and DJ would be as good as the Phily and Miami WR combo.

I think MHJ and Bowers would be wasted with Fields as QB. With Kmet and Moore on the roster, I think two of those players are deeply unhappy.

Bowers is such a luxury pick. No thanks.
I think there is a point where I'm taking him, but I'm not sure where. I think he's pass catcher 4 for me in the draft. I need to look more into the pass rushers to decide if I'd take Bowers over them if Nabers and Odunze are off the board.
I think one of Verse/Turner/Latu with that 2nd 1st
Massive question marks on all three. Right now, I'd prefer Nabers and Odunze, as I think they are flat out great receiver prospects. But I haven't watched Verse or Turner enough. There is no edge on their level available in the 2nd or early 3rd, but there may be receivers who can still be really good to be had down there.

Chicago has an average (at best) running game a decent (but not great) TE a center who belongs in the spring league and 1 top 3 receiver.
Receivers in recent weeks have dropped TD Passes. Short armed thrown balls and slowed down on a route.

Fields stays. Trade the pick build an offense around this very good QB.
