It's just amazing to me what a dumpster fire this organization is. I don't trust them to develop any players. Is it the Bears drafting the wrong players, or their total ineptitude at developing them? I'm of the opinion that, had the Bears drafted Mahomes, they would have ruined him... I'm at the same point with the Bears that I am with the Sox. I don't trust them to do anything, or have a competitive organization at any point in my lifetime.
I seriously question the concept of quarterback "development". Most of the successful quarterbacks of recent vintage were all good from the get go.

Many others never succeed or bounce around.

I think most of it lies with the QB himself and it doesn't take "that" long to see if he has "it" or not. I think Fields doesn't have "it" and will be a Jameis Winston, Jacoby Brissett, Mitch Trubisky.

Initially it was assumed Jack Sanborn was the low-cost replacement for Smith. Yippee! But then in the off-season, they signed Tremain Edmunds who has had even less ball production than Smith, at a mere 2mil/yr in discount, because "Oh look, 6'5! So long. So much length!"
Edwards is less productive than Sanborn.

We need former players, Bears preferably, to help identify guys that CAN PLAY. I am so tired of all the analytics overruling the eye test.

“Kevin has seen enough to clean it out,” said one NFL GM, who is not authorized to speak publicly about other teams’ management decisions and structures, on the condition of anonymity. “It’s my understanding that he has the power to do it, and the coach and GM can’t go around him to ownership. Maybe he feels a little pressure to keep Poles, but he sees how [messed] up it is there, and the more attention all of this gets, the easier it is for him to do what he has to do.”

Ted Phillips (already transitioning toward retirement) seemingly at the helm and Hall of Fame former executive Bill Polian commandeering the interviews. Trace Armstrong, a former Bears defensive end who’s now an agent for coaches and general managers, also held influence in the process, according to the GM who spoke under the condition of anonymity.

“This was always doomed,” said another NFL executive, who was a candidate for the Bears’ GM position and remains in the league. His employer would not permit him to speak freely about another team’s inner workings. “Remember, you had Ted running one search, and then it really was like Polian running his own search … at the same time, and then everyone is wondering if they’re just going to hire one of Trace’s guys, no matter what.”

Article basically says that the 1st overall pick goes to a 0-4 team ~70% of the time, with 1-3 teams getting it ~20%. If the Bears and Panthers both lose and are the only 0-4 teams in the league, we'll have a fantastic chance at the #1 overall pick.

Hoping for an absolutely miserable performance from the Bears so that we're closer to Caleb Williams and getting Poles+Flus fired.

Eh… we’d just ruin a quality QB prospect if we drafted one anyway. I’m convinced we’re f***ed at the QB position when it comes to actually developing a prospect until ownership changes and/or management is allowed to completely clear house.

The Lions are very good. They play hard for Dan Campbell. As I've stated previously by far the most talented team in this division and they're showing it.

What are the Bears going to do if the Bears lose both games next week, as I suspect they will?

Extend Poles and Eberflus and Getsy, to reward them on how they've handled the "adversity" so far, and better help them handle the "adversity" going forward into uncharted territories, of course.

Continue to lose more games afterfeels l

I think if the Bears are 0-5 after next Thursday, I think you can argue that the Bears should fire both Eberflus and Getsy. Sure firing both in the middle of the season is probably insane and full of chaos, but shiiiiiite, the Bears are already there now. I'd say embrace the chaos.

With that said, if the above does not happen, then this off-season Jim Harbaugh needs to be Option 1-25 for the Bears. I don't want another coordinator as HC. Bears tried that the last two hires, I prefer Jim Harbaugh to any of the coordinators. Plus there is a great chance Harbaugh could bring Fangio back to Chicago.

David Montgomery doing well in Detroit, while the Bears running game is floundering. That's not a feather in Poles' cap.

Not sure I'd be harping on Montgomery's 3.8 YPC on the season on the ground. Montgomery is "doing well" because Detriot runs the ball. Meanwhile this coaching staff barely lets Roschon Johnson run who has.. checks notes.. an average of 5.3 YPC on the ground with ONLY 17 carries. Hell even Khaili Herbert has been respectable on the ground (4.0 YPC) with limited carries (23). Justin Fields barely runs now himself (he was a big part of that run game himself), etc.

You can blame Poles on a couple of things.. letting Montgomery walk certainly isn't one of them.

5 touchdowns in 4 games......they're loving the hell out of him in Detroit.

It sounds like you're reading box scores more than watching the games. He's running hard and getting the tough yards and touchdowns. When you're grinding out long drives and you run a lot near the end zone - your ypc suffers. But it wears downs defenses and helps your team win.

Given his use - citing ypc here is kind of like citing +/- while judging a hockey player. There's so much more to the game.....

And Roschon Johnson would be doing the same thing if the Bears used him more which was my point. You don't think he runs hard? With attitude? He can also catch the ball and blocks very well. You'd be singing a different tune if Getsy and company used him more. I also love how you're touting a generic stat like TDs as a "proven point" then cite box scores. No shit he has the TDs cuz Detroit can actually put points on the board and has a QB worth a damn currently.

Maybe. I don't know. All I know is nobody has done for this team what Montgomery did for this team in the past, or is doing for Detroit this year.

And you aren't going to carry a 5.3 ypc average with heavier use and a bunch of goalline runs. That's my point.

But if we want to bag on the coaching, I'll be right there with you on that one.

Monty was great at always getting extra effort and extending the play for a positive after contact. Johnson has had good runs but not, and not opertunty yet, but nothing to show He has that helpful ability.

Wow a short yardage back getting touchdowns for an offense that moves the ball well. Unheard of. How many TDs do you think he’d have on this team?

Are we really complaining about not having DAVID EFFIN MONTGOMERY? If Getsy was doing his job, Montgomery would be forgotten. I do believe Johnson>Montgomery but Detroit is using Montgomery better.

----

LOL at Getsy saying the Bears are "building something special" on offense. Yeah, ok, Getsy.

Not surprising given it's him but the floodgates starting to open for players criticizing the coaches.
