When the game ended I was angry for all the right reasons. I knew there was blame enough to go around to just about every player and coach - did anyone in a Bears uniform or on the Bears sideline have a good game? I'm hard pressed to think of a one.

But there's more to it than that. It's not just all the bad stuff seen on the surface - it's deeper than that. It's the despair of hope slowly slipping away where you don't want to acknowledge it by looking at it but you know you have to at some point soon. I'm talking about the hope that the Bears, of all teams, have an actual elite level QB - a QB that makes plays instead of missing them. A QB that sees the field and reacts with anticipation and delivers the ball accurately and on time - not one that either can't see a receiver open 20 yards downfield or simply decides to take a 5 yard completion to the checkdown instead.

The whole team made mistakes - true - but there were plays Fields could have made that he didn't - not because the throw was bad but because the throw wasn't thrown. The great QB's see those plays and make those plays - Fields didn't (or can't?).

I wouldn't have given up 32 for him. Hindsight or not, this was always him. I would have given a 3rd though.
I think we all understood why Poles made the trade. 20/20 says he should NOT have made the trade but oh well. It's not Poles fault that Claypool is a big baby who is about spend the rest of his career bouncing from team to team, never having a contract longer than 2-3 years.

If Claypool is not deactivated for the game, I would definitely move him down the depth chart.

I understood why he made the trade. But the warts that he has now were always the warts that he had and the warts that made the Steelers want to move on from him.

I don’t really care about or follow football all that closely but people sizing up Fields as “elite” always seemed to me as someone desperately wanting to believe he was elite, vs what their eyeballs were telling them.

This is an excellent explanation of what is wrong with this offense - from scheme to execution. J.T. Sullivan hates this Getsy offense and the play calling. Loved his "This is what gets people fired" comment. Keep in mind that JT has been very positive about Fields' developing into a good QB... at least in the past. He is not a guy with some agenda to trash Fields. In fact, quite the opposite.

JT knows football. He's been around a long time. He's also quite objective. I watched the entire video. Here are my takeaways.

1. He thinks Claypool is f***ing terrible.
2. He thinks that the design was bad, A LOT. (Bad blocking design, bad route design, not using players to their strengths)
3. He thinks the offensive line is bad, A LOT (Just getting beat)
4. Finally, he really was down on JF1 in this video. Just isn't reading, anticipating, missing throws.

It was so incredibly disjointed. So many details missed. Terrible blocking. Putting your players in positions that make it harder to do their job.

Claypool and Nate Davis were probably two of the worst players on the team Sunday.
It's funny you write this because...
"Chase Claypool, Nate Davis raise alarming red flags for Ryan Poles in Bears' flop vs. Packers"

Yeah not shocking. Two big Poles acquisitions and they were both awful week 1. I’m being overly negative at this point though. Flush it and move on. Lets go week 2.

The whole board is. It's one game. The first of the season at that.
For sure. It was that bad, though and they haven’t exactly earned the benefit of the doubt so it’s not surprising when people have seen this song and dance over and over.

Can’t really make a statement on JF or the team after one bad week.
