Does a member of this cover band have a parent at ESPN or something?

Just awful

Well now that round 1 is over, what is your grade on Bears pick?

The trade was mediocre, and the pick is a C-/D+ as Poles ignored the Bears biggest needs to reach largely because of his ineptitude and disastrous Claypool trade.

Brutal. Bears always muck it up.

Just to review ... the Bears were gifted #1 overall pick - and what did the Bears do with that #1 overall pick - did they muck it up? Let's look at the big picture.

They got DJ Moore - to meet the need for a #1 WR.
They got Darnell Wright - to meet the need for a starting RT.
They got Carolina's 2023 2nd, their 2024 1st and their 2025 2nd.
They got Philadelphia's 2024 4th.

Doesn't seem like they mucked it up to me.

ndgt is just trying to compete with BWC for most negative poster. Someone has to fill the void left by KBS.

I would have preferred Carter but am okay with the Wright pick.

Will save Fields from getting killed but they need to add a free agent d-lineman or two since it was not addressed in first round, maybe Clowney, not sure who else is available.

Be nice if they could get a center with one of their second round picks. Patrick and Whitehair are both useless.

The trade is inconsequential to me. Rather they stay at 9 or went to 10, they where always going to pass on Jalen Carter mainly because he is a lazy, unmotivated player who does NOT do what is needed to be the best he can be. My guess is by Year 3 of his career, Philly will still be waiting for Carter to step up and be that guy.

Overall, Poles got a A for the night. There is no legit argument, IMO, for a grade under B for Poles. Giving him a C/D etc is straight up trolling.

If you cannot see and/or understand what Poles is trying to do, if you have to be this doom boner guy at all times about everything the Bears are trying to do, might I suggest you turned in your Bears fan card and find another another team to root for because you'll never enjoy the Bears when you are ALWAYS trying to find the negative in everything they do. They only annoying think Poles has done, imo, is the Claypool trade. I really wanted to keep that pick because there are a lot of good players left and the draft is about to hit the sweet part of the draft.

Keep up the good work Poles. Jones/Davis/Whitehair/Jenkins/Wight, that is an improved OL.

I'm good with passing on Jalen Carter. Of the top o-linemen available in round 1, Wright is for sure the top pick that I would have wanted. I would have preferred him a little lower, but as Poles said, he didnt want to take the chance of losing him. I'm ok with that.

Paris Johnson feels like fool's gold and I was relieved when he was selected ahead of the Bears. Skoronski will probably be a guard, and both the need and value for the pick fits a tackle more than a guard.

Poles has significantly improved the offense on paper this off-season. The o-line is totally revamped and should eb vastly improved. Now it's time to work on the defense. And some of that will have to wait for next year's draft. But we'll see what he can get at #53.

Which means 2023 is on Justin Fields shoulders and I do believe he is smart enough to realize that.

Regardless of what you think of the player/value, it's wild to say RT wasn't one of the Bears biggest needs heading into the night.

I’d rather not be associated with guys that should be in jail

in a perfect world, yeah, but I also think Carter was doing something a lot of kids do. Or, frankly, is worse than what a lot of adults do every single day on the expressway. They just don't normally lead to someone running their car into a tree and a couple of people dead.

I get not wanting him if you have questions of his work ethic, or his ability to translate to the pros, or just question his upside. But there's a lot pointing to him being the best player on the board at the time, maybe the best player in the draft, at a position of need for us. I don't have a problem with who we did draft, and would give Poles at least a B on it probably a low A. But it also feels like a mistake to leave someone that is arguably the best player on the board.

Assuming the three picks bunched in the 50s-60s will be edge, dt, and cb.

I like the Bears pick, Wright is very good and they needed OL help and lots of it.

Carter was the sexy or trendy pick and he's a beast. I saw him play live 3-4 times. But lots of rumblings here in GA that weren't very positive regarding the incident and character issues. Even the Falcons could have taken him but didn't.

Either way good pick for the Bears and hopefully more to come.

What? The Bears didn't need a RT? Getting a RT and completing the OL is more important than the DL. You need to keep Fields protected and see if he can take that next jump. This was never a 1 year rebuild. It's OL this off-season, DL next off-season. It's not that hard to figure out. Wright was the correct pick, plain & simple.
How about you give Claypool an off-season to learn the offence before grading that trade?

If what many of the "draft experts" say is correct that the sweet spot in this draft is between picks 20 and 50 ... and the Hawks pick at 53/61/64 ... then I hope Poles trades up into that range and gets a d-lineman - tackle or edge - that will be that stud player so needed to make the back-7 work. Yes the Bears need quantity but as with most of the quantity v quality arguments there is an argument to be had and in this case I would rather come out with one B+/A- player than two C+/B- players.
