Chicago wants to build a lid for the toilet bowl.

Given the estimated and massive price range, just let Arlington Heights have 'em.

Unless adding a dome somehow increases capacity to be able to host a SB, which I can imagine is realistic, I don’t see how that’s a realistic option.

Sounds like the typical "have to say something to save face" statement/idea that's completely unrealistic.

AH isn't only about moving indoors, it's about the team being in control of all the land for 1,000s of parking spots, an entertainment district, etc.

Oh I called this whole situation being a mess that would only get worse the second the trade happened.

Factory of sadness.

The Bears playing under a dome instead of outside in shitty weather is the antithesis of what I thought "Bears Football" was all about from the time i was a little kid. If that's at all relevant anymore in this day in age is tbd

It’s the modern game.
As an outlier I can see a full stadium in 0 weather but that is just not the MO of today’s sports fan.
75000 people filling a temperature controlled place will spend more money.
Also if you’re a player on the market with other things equal where would you rather play.

I believe a modern dome would be an amazing thing for the Chicago area. You're going to start seeing Super Bowls, Final Fours, mega concerts, you name it.

It's smart for the team and all to go dome, I just hate closed dome. I want more rain, wind, and snowy game opportunities across the league. Hay it's lame that all nhl staduims are uniform now without some rink differences. I prefer the twists and all

Sports should be played indoors. All of them. Makes for a better, more pure game. No wind aided HRs or FGs.

You're crazy. Football should not be played exclusively indoors.

Baseball.... meh. With how analytical it's gotten may as well move everyone indoors and to the same exact field dimensions.

Surfing the channels this am while drinking my morning cup of jo, ran across the 1981 playoff game between SD and Miami. I was around at that time and watched it in '81. Re-watching it now and truly is one of the greatest playoff games in the history of the NFL. Shula vs Coryell; Fouts, Joiner, Muncie, Winslow (great game) vs Miami with a bunch of relative nobodys.

Indoor baseball is garbage. It's a summer game, it's meant to be outside.

Even with a dome they wouldn’t get a super bowl
They'd definitely get 1. Indy & Minneapolis have had one. The league has shown it'll do that as a reward for building a new stadium. But they're unlikely to join the regular rotation, since the league prefers warm weather destinations.

They'd also probably steal the Big Ten title game from Indy, and would host a CFP final.

I think hes talking about if they dome soldier, and I agree. Unless they somehow find 20k more seats, they arent getting a SB in soldier.

Yeah it's not just the stadium, it has to be warm weather for the tourism, the outdoor parties, etc.

Some of my best football memories with my dad were going to Bears/Packers games every winter. It's not comfortable but it's still fun to freeze for four hours and watch some football. Playoff games in the snow are epic too.
