I lowered Tarasenko's overall from 93 to 90 (and potential from franchise to medium elite) so he wouldn't get 100 points every season.
In the very first season he scored 69 goals and 109 points

As a result of this, Paul Statsny and Alex Steen were #2 and #3 in NHL scoring, with 95 & 93 points each........

Wow this game is broken. I offered my RFA Tanner Pearson 4 years @ 2.75 mil and he accepted. The game somehow signed him to a 1 year, 3.1 million deal that brings him to UFA. What the ****? Where did that come from?????

Oooooooooooh ok yes, that's what happened. I guess he signed the previous QO despite the contract that I gave him.

Yup. He accepted the qualifying offer, rather than your contract offer, is all

Player growth is so ****ed.

I had an 83 overall center with top 6 potential and very good offensive stats.
At 23 years old he put up 78 points and grew to an 87 for the next season.

Then he took a slight step back and got 65 the next year, but that's still a good point total for an 87 overall. He also had 17 points in 21 playoff games.

Sim to the re-sign phase........ he is back to 83 overall and will probably now be capped there.

Their overall changes when you hit preseason as well and you can see in player growth what is causing the overall adjustment.

Odds are he had a lot of gains from stats and morale rather than natural growth.

Have anyone whove played with Hawks, used ADeBrincat in their line up?.

For an experiement i started a new season,(superstar difficulty settings)
i called up Alex from OHL,put him to 1st line (LW) with PKane (RW) and
CGiroux (C)...yes i traded for Giroux before the season begun :) .

I also put him to 1st PP unit (RW) also 4 on 4 and (RW) 3 on 3 (C)

He started 67 overall, after the off season he finished with 75 overall.
He played in all 82 reg games, scored 15 goals (6 pp goals),40 points
+ and - +15 (finished 5th in rookie scoring) in 26 play-offs games
he scored 5 goals and 11 assists,16 points...i ended up winning the SC
over Philadelphia.

17-18 pre-season in 6 games he scored 4g+6a,so far in 26 reg games
he has 8 goals,22 assists at 76 overall.

How do you define "natural" growth though? Performing well isn't natural because the game said so?
It's stupid. He had top 6 forward potential, and he performed like a top six forward. But the game just says no.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending EA's continuously baffling player development logic. I'm just saying that overall adjustments are determined by the three categories: Natural growth, Statistical growth, and Morale growth.

Natural growth typically increases in their late-teens/early-20s and then decreases in their 30s. I find most players typically stop making significant gains in natural growth around age 22.

Statistical growth and morale growth are both variable depending on morale and the prior year's stats respectively. These will fluctuate and may result in a "regression to the mean" if there are significant gains in those categories and then the player suffers a long-term injury, fails to have continued success, sees decreased ice time, etc.

Morale is based on ice-time relative to role, individual success relative to role, relationships, etc. It's pretty simple to make gains there (put them on a line equal to or above their role, trade disliked players, don't trade well-liked players, etc.)

Statistical growth, I don't know if role is taken into account. I want to say it's not because I've had 4th line FWDs and Depth FWDs and Minor SCR FWDs who have scored 40+ points and not gained a single point in the category.

Poise seems to go up for most players every year in September (though it's never actually listed as going up on any of the pages; only reason I know is because I log player attributes in a spreadsheet on September 15, December 15, and March 15 of each season), so you may occasionally see an older player bump up in overall in September without anything listed in any of the 3 categories.

I know its a video game, but its frigging awesome
how much ADeBrincat has grown for me.

1st season (82 games) 15g+25a=40pts +12 (6 PP goals)
- 15 points in the play-offs

2nd season (82 games) 20g+40a=60pts +6 (12 pp goals)
- 20 points in the play-offs

He has gone from 67 overall to 85 overall, can't wait how many
goals, points he scores in his 3rd season for me.

The Islanders traded John Tavares to the Leafs in 2018 leading up to the trade deadline for two 1sts (2018, 2019) and Bracco.

The Leafs then got bumped in the first round, Tavares signed with the Islanders in July, and just now the Islanders traded Tavares to the Leafs AGAIN leading up to the trade deadline in 2019 for Cam Atkinson, Brian Dumoulin, a 1st (2020), and a 7th.

This time JT has a 6 x $8.3M contract to go with him, so I assume he's sticking around Toronto for a while, but still pretty funny/face-palmy.

They need to make trade value lower for impending UFAs. A 32 year old UFA 1st liner shouldnt have the same value as a 25 year old 1st liner. And ****** teams never want to trade their top guys who will clearly leave in free agency.

Does anyone know if on PS4 NHL 17 will keep offering updated rosters? Its on sale on PSN and was thinking of picking it up. Just wondering if they will continue to update the roster so I can have the correct opening day roster or is that only going to be in NHL 18?

haven't played in a while, but they don't update rosters after a certain point. I don't remember them ever doing a free agency roster update.
