Official now I guess. This is a big help for this season, will hurt us next year though.

Yeah definitely hurt next year but Moses so far this season hasn’t shown much and seems a little too slow to be a real impact player until he’s 19-20. I assume that means York will be traded once Jelsma comes back. And I also wonder if that guarantees that Vaughan will be traded in Jan.

Wonder if they try and get Romani in January with Vaughan involved

Barrie is STACKED and I doubt they’re done

You’ll suck next year but that’s fine just trade away beaudoin and aitcheson to get picks and players back, and get a good lottery pick to start the rebuild

Well Oshawa got Barlow so now I guess u could say Barrie Brantford and Brampton are back on the clock lmao. Hearing the first reported news of Wakely in north bay to Kingston may not happen I wonder if Barrie would look into him especially now with Jelsma out for a bit a trade involving maybe a guy like Jaiden Newton and picks and get Wakely for more top end talent come playoffs. A top 9 of
Jelsma Wakely Hemming
York Beaudoin Patterson
Stewart Gardiner Moses

That would have to be as good as almost anyone in the league along with the amazing top 4 D and Hillebrandt in net and still having Vaughan on the team would be incredible. It would also most likely mean Wigle would be the odd man out as Barrie would had 2 many centres but there’s probably some bottom end teams that would pick up a veteran like him to help a younger squad develop.
I did call this last Thursday sorta lol didn’t have Moses going the other way but still thought Barrie could make it happen. Top 9 of this
Jelsma Wakely Hemming
Wigle Beaudoin Patterson
Stewart Gardiner Vaughan

And whether Vaughan gets traded in Jan for another top end player or not this team is dangerous with that defence and Hillebrandt

Depends what happens with Beaudoin and Hemming for next year there’s a chance both are gonna a chance both are back. I think Gardiner may be back next year aswell. Depends if they decide to trade Vaughan or not Next years top 6 could still be
Hemming Beaudoin Patterson
Stewart Gardiner Vaughan

Forgot about Patterson, that’s another trade chip. Same with Gardiner.

Even if they trade Vaughan this year and go all in they should still have a good core next year if they don’t feel like tearing the team down.

As a fan of Barrie I’d personally rather go at it 2 straight years heavy then do a full rebuild and be bad for 2 and develop a young team again but will see if Beaudoin makes Utah next year with is a possibility with the way he plays and his work ethic along with his size then you’ll definitely have to trade the remaining pieces if he’s back along with others then u try to run it back with what u have and add along the way

Going to be some tough calls, I think they should keep Vaughan around. He can contribute this year and they already have some great top end players, adding more just saturates the available ice time. They will need a Vaughan to re-build around next season, especially if Beaudoin & Hemming are out of the picture.

What a great pickup. Gonna be a fun ride this season. Agreed with what others are saying that I think that should be it for big additions. Wouldn't hate to see a more experienced backup because I'd hate to see this fall apart if Hillebrandt got hurt.

I get this trade and I don't. Obviously Wakely is a very good player and Barrie is better today than they were yesterday and have a chance to win the OHL this year. Why I don't get it is because Barrie isn't a 1 year team, so why are they negatively affecting themselves next year to add an OA that by all accounts not many other teams were after? Next year they get back Beaudoin, Patterson, Hillebrandt, Aitcheson, Eliasson, Hemming, etc. It's not out of the realm of possibility that they have as good or a better chance to win next year as this year, when the conference isn't nearly as good next year. Moses would've been a big piece on that team next year.

While I get what you're saying, as I Colts fan I'm good with this. So many times in the past they've taken that road and didn't add enough pieces and ended up coming up short due to lack of depth somewhere. 2022-23 they didn't load up enough, lost Vierling to injury and lost in 7 to North Bay because they had 16 year Beaudoin as the 1C. Can say the same for the 2012-13 to 2015-16 Colts as well. Had a final and a couple other top 2 finishes and nothing to show for it. Plus there is no guarantee that Hemming or Eliasson comes back, and from what I've read about Beaudoin's time in Utah it's no sure thing on him either.

Thing is- you guys are probably the east favourites right now and still have Parker Vaughan and some picks as trade chips. You can potentially get a guy like Romani or if you want to hold onto Vaughan- trade York for a mid round pick and use some of your lower picks and that mid round pick to acquire a middle 6 player to replace York since he is an OA. You’d have 3 really solid lines regardless followed by one of if not the best top 4 d in the league and d core, and hillebrandt who is a goalie who can win games all by himself and is a top 5-7 goalie imo.

Barrie does not have a shortage of prospects going forward. The team still has ‘07 - 2,3,3,4 picks that have not yet had an impact on the roster.

Not clear they get back hillebrandt. Could get signed by an ahl team after this season if the colts do well, and he does well. Also will be at world juniors as second or third goalie but states are stacked.

Eliasson can go to the AHL same with Hemming next year. Not saying they necessarily will however that’s a possibility. I think rather than Barrie leaving a lot on the table they’d rather commit to 1 year

I think York is a waiver. The Market is saturated. I’d be shocked if they got anything of value for him. Maybe some teams would throw a 9th round pick at him if they feel he is a significant upgrade but most teams have three OAs and I don’t think York pushes a needle for teams looking to upgrade.

If they were looking to get a trade return, they are more likely to get that through Wigle since he is a centre. Loads of OA Wingers out there but not many centres.

I think also at the end of the day Marty thinks Moses game won’t take off till he’s 19 and they think if they do keep Vaughan that he’ll be a much better player next year even being a year younger. A potential top 6 next year of Beaudoin Patterson Hemming Stewart Vaughan Gardiner is still very good a lot of that could be gone but all of them hypothetically could be back

At this point I don't see Marty stopping. I think he will bring in some toughness which wont cost much, possibly a top 4 R Hand shot D which will cost them Vaughan and picks and likely another vet goalie in the event Hillebrandt goes down/ being away for World Jrs.
Hrebik looked good in his start but are you going to trust him going the distance if SH can't go? I would think you would want some insurance in your most important position come playoff time and you can never have too many D for a deep playoff run. An insurance Vet goalie costs maybe any combination of Lowe, Derbidge one of the Newtons and or maybe just some picks. I don't see Marty hesitating to make any of those moves with the impressive roster he has already assembled.

I do not understand Marty’s love for Lowe. Vaughan is already a better player and should be playing way more than he is. Having hemming play 3rd line makes no sense to me either trying to spread out the scoring makes no sense to me. Have 2 number 1 lines that can score a ton while having a more defensive 3rd line is better imo

Played a great 50 minutes tonight then choked it away. Adding Wakely to this team sure looks nice. Tough one for Hillebrandt tn but that’s what happens when u take pentalies vs the top teams they’ll score

Couldn't agree more. Colts were the better team for the first 50 tonight. It looked like they were really finally starting to gel as a group and play great team hockey and then the penalties killed them. You know with that London PP they will make you pay. One way to spin this as a positive is this happened in October and not May. Hopefully the boys take this as a lesson and begin to stay out of the box so much!

Lots of positives to take out of that game. Most of that Knights core has played together for 3 years, including an OHL championship. Marty has seen a ton of London over the years. He'll make sure they're prepared for the next meeting at home.

Thought Wakely was absolutely fantastic. That line with Gardiner and Stewart was the Colts best. That said the Beaudoin line felt a little shorthanded with Debridge on their line. While I'm sure it'll be better once Jelsma is back. In the meantime I'd like to see basically anyone else.

Hopefully the boys can get some revenge against Brampton tonight.
