How has Savard performed since arriving from the Soo Greyhounds? With us, he was very undisciplined and hurt the club on numerous occasions.

He is still catching his bearings. His size is welcomed up front. Hopefully he fits in well, they have him playing with our two OAs Vierling and Cardwell so he'll get his looks

Well, wrapped up a good week this afternoon, winning all of the games they were supposed to. Some big games on the schedule this week.

@ OS on Tues
Hosting OTT Thurs
And hosting WSR Sat night.

Will be a good test for these boys and some good hockey to watch, looking forward to it.

Barrie
Wasn't pretty at times against Owen Sound last night, but they got the job done. The refs were a bit of a mess all night which didn't help the flow of the game.

I didn't see the OS game, was just watching the box score. Glad they pulled it out.

Big game tonight & Saturday, lets hope the boys are ready for it.

I heard the Saturday game is sold out. Should be a fun atmosphere. I won't be able to get there until late 2nd early 3rd due to other commitments.

Started out great tonight in the 1st. Things unraveled after that weird string of fire alarms at the beginning of the 2nd. I thought Ottawa won the game on compete, seemed to want the 50/50 pucks more than the Colts.

I think the 1st period showed we can play with them! Focus on the next game and keep plugging forward, team looks great.

Windsor on Saturday, another big game. LetsGoColts

Barrie needs to play a much more physical game vs Ottawa. They have the size but they all want to be playmakers. Let your skilled guy do that and the big boys need to play in the sandbox!

It won’t matter much. Ottawa takes away time and space. They have great stick work without the puck. Clog lanes. It makes it really tough for most teams to get going.

The size against Ottawa may restrict the offensive side but not the defensive side. Because Ottawa plays so well structured, they are able to play a game like tonight where they don’t give many good opportunities and take advantage of the very few they get while so short handed.

They’ve done it all year. Hardly ever have a full lineup. Played many games extremely short handed. But it’s the structure and discipline to play within that game that has allowed them to be what they are.

The team that beats them in a seven game series is a team that can match the pace AND out size them at the same time.

I can see the ‘67s advancing and can also see the Petes with speed or Colts with physicality knocking out the ‘67s round two.
What I really want to see though is the league enforce rules.
I am not sure if it was Windsor or Ottawa or another team that started taking advantage of leniency with the dead play behind own goalie. But it’s use is spreading. If not rectified, I can see the neutral zone trap back in full force by playoffs or start of next season.
The other thing that drives me nuts is twerps dishing out gloves to the upper chest or face multiple times after the whistle. If it is not going to be called, please do not penalize retaliation. Honestly, I would cheer for the guy that put Foster, for example, in the hospital and side lines ROS.

Can’t fight more than 3 times so you get Euro tactics. Is what it is. That’s the trade off.

I thought refs were pretty consistent on not calling penalties last night but I do agree 100% with the after the whistle and behind the play BS. Can't let them mangle our captain like that, and if the refs are going to allow it...look out cuz one of our big guys is eventually going to snap.

The Colts met pace, structure and discipline in the first period and dominated. Consistency dropped off for the 2nd two. If Colts can keep up for 3 periods, Ottawa is a beatable team.

I think they tried to play physical but their legs weren't moving in 2nd and 3rd - or maybe Ottawa is a faster team...but I don't think so. They lacked puck support in the O-zone and weren't competing for the 50/50 pucks in 2&3 and Ottawa ended up dominating.

All in all I think Barrie can play with Ottawa in a seven game series based on what I saw last night. Just need to put 3 periods together.

Ottawa was missing 3 of their best players Barrie was missing nothing. 67’s win 4-1 not sure why that Game gives you vibes of Barrie being able to keep up with Ottawa lol

Were you at the game? Colts dominated period one & the beginning of period two. Like absolutely dominated. So, based on that, yeah, Colts can keep up. Just need to put together a full 60.

To echo what Granderson said, Ottawa was missing their 1st line centre, 2nd line centre and 2nd line RW.

But, even with key players out, Ottawa still managed to play a game that contained Barrie and kept most of the shots from the outside.

Ok, listen guys, I'm not saying Barrie deserved to win that game at all and I do acknowledge that Ottawa was missing some players. All I'm saying is that Barrie can play with Ottawa, I believe they proved that in the beginning of last nights game. They need play with much less panic, better puck support for a full 60 and they'll be right there.

The difference between good teams and great teams is their ability to win close games. Last night was a close game and Ottawa won. Even if you set aside the level of talent missing from Ottawa’s lineup, the reality is Barrie, at home, needs to find a way to win that game. Ottawa found a way to win the game by limiting the quality of the chances against and taking advantage of the small handful of chances they got.

But, it is only one game. One game doesn’t mean a hell of a lot. What I am pointing to is all the wins Ottawa has managed in close games, especially with so many key man games lost to injury, suspension and International Tourney’s. It’s been impressive. We’ve seen last nights game probably a dozen times this year.

As Windsor comes to town, an important lesson has been learned. Just because a team has the most assets (e. g. stash of 2nd Rd picks), doesn't mean that they will simply outbid other teams and acquire any player of their choosing who is on the trade block. Or, Wright would be a Colt. Always other factors involved.

Was a shootout tonight. Harrison and Wright have some chemistry. Neither team will do anything in the playoffs if they play that loose, although the refs were a factor, calling everything imaginable in the 1st and 2nd and then nothing at all in the third. Very strange game, but fun and good atmosphere with a packed house

Obviously lost that game last night cause of West at the beginning too bad team played pretty well. Marty should give the Hillebrandt kid a few more games he looked good in the game he started this year in Guelph.
