The Mukhamadullin injury I'm hoping is not serious. Where I'm guessing it happened, in the Thursday game vs. Coachella, is around the 8:20 mark of the second period. He gets run into the boards with an innocuous looking hit, but immediately crumples to the ice, then gets back up and doesn't have his left arm on his stick for a while. But he finished the game and didn't show any aftereffects, so I'd figured it was nothing to be concerned about.

Guryev drops the gloves with Hayden. Right after that we turn it over exiting the zone and Coachella buries another. 2-0 Firebirds.

Rau! 2-1

Jacob MacDonald is honestly so good on the PP point

That’s your score after one. Pretty even period, lot of rough stuff.

Coachella ties it up on a PP. Don’t think staying out of the box is an option tonight, they’re just going to have to keep burying their chances. 3-3 midway through the second.

Sabourin deflects it into the net but gets called for goaltender interference instead, we kill it, and then I think he took another roughing penalty as the second period ended.

Still anyone’s game, but it’s chaos out here at times tonight.

Is Nathan Todd worthy of a call-up post deadline or keep him there as long as the Cuda are winning?

I would love to see him get the next call-up just for the sake of getting him into his first NHL game. I think he’ll stay with the Cuda for the most part, but what a rare career trajectory this guy is having.

Empty netter, 5-3. Barracuda picked an unfortunate period to lose their form.

BUT, Studnicka then scores to put it back to 5-4. One minute left.

Aaand that’s your final.

(I posted both videos because Coachella's is more complete, but this time they didn't include any of our goals. WTF, guys)

Not hanging this loss on Sabourin, but that penalty at the end of the second bit us hard. Cuda never came back after Coachella scored early in the third on the ensuing PP. I've got very mixed opinions on Sabourin, he's a useful contributor in all zones, but he seems incapable of figuring out how to take a breath and calm himself down once he gets riled.

In fact we had more power play opportunities than they did (7 to 5) but yeah later on in the game the execution was just not there. Coachella is good, though, I always point that out. I am never surprised when we lose to this team. We've unfortunately got them three more times this season.

Three points for Todd (1G, 2A), two assists in MacDonald's debut, Cole Cassels quietly picks up two assists too.

As far as MacDonald goes: Can we please, please keep him?

Lindblom and Coe in for Wiesblatt and Sabourin. Sabourin is an interesting omission.

So then, still injured: Mukhamadullin, Laroque, Knyzhov, Robins, Gushchin. Still... missing (?): Makiniemi

We're also wearing some interesting goldish-colored jerseys for military appreciation night.

Cuda get a full two minute 5 on 3 power play. Nathan Todd finds Bordeleau for a one-timer to tie the game.
