Gallant.

Why didn't the zebras blow the play dead after hit?

No idea, it looks like Pulli was actually the one who caught him, but Romanov was basically semi-laid out in the net and play wasn't stopped until we got it out of the zone.

Another poor Barracuda PP which is wiped out by a double-minor to Coe for high sticking.

Before the Wranglers get their guy back on, though, Cassels scores 4-on-4! 1-0 Cuda.

1-0 after the first period. Barracuda playing well but not getting a lot of shots through. Power play is still a bit of a mess.

I don't know why Thrun hasn't been credited with an assist on the above goal, but I assume they'll fix it.

EDIT: The goal has been changed to Henry Thrun, from Cassels and Cicek. So looks like Cassels never actually touched it, according to them.

Romanov with a huge save (no replay on this, so this is the best view I saw of it) to keep it 1-0. Low event second period so far until this.

End of the 2nd. Calgary's been getting some pressure on us late.

And Simek adds the empty netter to make it 4-1. That's your final.

We've beaten Dustin Wolf.

Lot to be positive about this weekend despite us only going 1-1 and getting badly outshot today. Romanov with a great game tonight, not a lot of highlight reel saves other than the one above but he stopped just about everything. PK, which had been struggling, went 10 for 10.

Power play needs to get fixed in a bad way. Believe we had 3 PPs today and 0 shots on them.

Simek seems to have been playing well and I’d consider calling him up. I’d love to get Guschin up too, the team isn’t great and he’s still tearing up the AHL.

but you have to tell us who they replace, in your opinion.

Literally anyone? Spin the wheel?

I'd waive Vlasic and Hoffman - both are utterly done and have zero trade value, so dump them and be done with them.

Yes but i want @Jargon 's answer. He's usually a shining beacon of hope on our boards and I want to know who has disappointed him the most that he's willing to send them away

I was totally dismissive of Simek when he got sent down, I had assumed he was just going to be a frequent scratch and he'd ride out the last year of his contract down here. Seemed like he could barely move anymore last season. He's really giving it his all down here, and it's great.

If he gets called back up, good for him. He's at least trying to earn it.

Makes me sad to hear that Simek did not look good to you last year. Maybe you caught him when he was trying to play through an injury? He's been extra injuryprone the past few years. I love Simek and I remember him being a good luck charm for the big club and I just can't help but defend him whenever people want to bury him in the minors and stuff but I've always had a love for these kinds of dmen, Ragnarsson and Stuart and Ehrhoff and Demelo.

Hahah, am I.. a shining beacon? I feel like my avatar alone loses me the title and I’ve certainly got nothing on @Alaskanice. Also, I’ve repeatedly said that this team would be very bad because of the defense. I had more hope for the offense, though.

Who would I replace? Hoffman or Kunin, probably the former as he seems to be doing nothing at all times.

On defense, Vlasic, probably. I don’t think Simek really changes much but Vlasic is cooked. The defense badly badly badly needs like two guys who can move the puck. I don’t care if they can’t play defense, I just need them to move the puck. Hell, put Gawanke in, put Thrun in, anything to give these guys life.

But yeah, I’d try a top 6 of Eklund - Hertl - Zetterlund / Duclair - Granlund - Guschin. Possibly flip Guschin and Zetterlund and see what Hertl can do with the two rookies.

I feel like we're gonna end up with a defense that looks like the below at some point of the season and even though it also sucks, it's still going to work way better just because some of them can actually pass the puck.

Knyzhov-MacDonald
Gawanke-Thrun
Muk-Emberson
Ferraro/Okhotiuk/Rutta

I think that’s probably right, yeah. God, we better pick up some defensive prospects this draft. I’d pick best overall and then just go all D…

Just seeing all the highlights of Mintyukov and how transformative he's been for Anaheim this year as a budding 1D, it's such a bummer that we were 1 pick away from getting him.
