It's too early to panic about anything but they've got to work a few things out. Turnovers, special teams and getting the puck out of the zone are on the top of my list.

If there's one guy I'm frustrated by early in the season, it's Scott Sabourin. He had an absolutely stupid penalty late in last night's game in which he skated up to the goalie, who had the puck frozen, and just took a series of chops at his pads. Sparked a whole scrum. We killed it off, at least. I was a little skeptical of the Sabourin signing when it happened, and I'm not high on what I'm seeing from him so far. 0 points so far on the year, too.

Okhotiuk looks pretty good, though. He feels very old school. I was critical of Pulli early in the season, but I'm coming around on him. Feels weird to be praising the defensemen considering how things are going, but the pairing on the ice for both of HSK's 5 on 5 goals was actually Mukhamadullin-Gawanke. Not that I'm hanging anything on them, both goals more or less came out of nothing. But I have been pretty critical of Gawanke's defense early in the year.

Anyone who's into point totals, though, we've got five guys PPG or over so far through 5GP. Bailey/Gushchin (7 pts), Carpenter (6), and Cassels/Gawanke (5).

Next up is Coachella Valley, who's also off to a slow start on the season (1-2-0-0). It's the first game (of 3) of that "Tigres del Mar" promotion that they've been heavily hyping ever since the season started, and last night it just occurred to me that we're wearing purple and orange for this game, which are Coachella's colors. That's weird.

Given how everyone many people have said Thrun did not deserve to be sent down and was the Sharks best defenseman, I have not heard anything about his play with the Cuda. I haven’t watched any games but I doubt he is forcing the Sharks hand to bring him back up based on his play since nobody has posted about him since he was sent down.

He really does need to marinate in the AHL and show with his play that he can dominate at the AHL level.

With how highly thought of the D playing for the Cuda are on this board the Cuda should not be having the defensive issues they are currently having.

He didn't really do much of anything yesterday apart from take a blatant interference call in the second period.

Thrun's kinda just been there so far, he's fine. He's the point man on the first power play unit, but our power play hasn't been great the last couple games, so not much credit to send his way there.

He was terrible with the big club and some thought he got sent down for “seasoning”. He had one or two good games at the rookie tournament, but let’s all not forget he was traded from a division rival (yes he refused to sign with them) and if the ducks thought he would come back to haunt them, they would have sent him back to Boston.

Terrible is awfully harsh.
