Scouting meetings. And in desperate need of. New NHL caliber goalie.

They probably had a dual purpose. First how close is Stalock to NHL play? Second, what assets might be worth trading/calling up to help Oilers make playoffs.
Sharks should trade Riemer to Oiler for a 1st rounder since they are desperate for an NHL goalie.

The new guy Texeira wasn't half bad either. Maybe we should just keep throwing out PTOs to ECHLers and see how that goes. Might need some new forwards if the Sharks fill the taxi squad for the road trip tomorrow. Onyebuchi also disappeared from the bench at some point during the game and I don't remember seeing him leave.

Ibragimov's first:

Power play went 2 for 4, the PPGs being the Leonard goal in my last post and one from Reedy, who now leads the AHL in power play goals with 10.

McGrew and Blichfeld rounded out the scoring, 5-2 Barracuda final. Bakersfield's goalie was actually Alex Stalock, making his first start since his return.

I just have to say, it was really weird combining Pucks and Paws with Hockey Fights Cancer night. You had the tone switching between "We'd like to honor cancer survivors" and "Look at the cute dogs!" all night.

When I mentioned earlier that the Oilers had a large group of suits/scouts, I'm talking about around 12 guys, by my count. It was enough to raise an eyebrow at. Some of them were nearby and while they were watching the game, they were mostly complaining about the fact they were here and unable to watch Bills-Chiefs. And wow, do those guys swear a lot.

Hobo - I’ve not been able to catch the last few Cuda games. Do you know what happened to Cicek for the last two?

He took a puck to the face (saw some tweets that said it was to the ear) and left immediately during the 1/14 Tucson game, he hasn't been back since.

Also of note, Chmelevski and Hatakka are currently out with undisclosed injuries.

Thanks, much appreciated! I need to return to being your game watching and reporting sidekick and I’d know these things LOL

I'd be willing to give Leonard another chance. Swap him for Gregor. He showed that he could grind a little last season so he's got a couple of potential tools, but mainly he needed to be confident with the puck and not afraid to go hard down the slot like this.

I'd also like to see Reedy, Nick Merkley, Blichfeld, and Halbgewachs get another look to see if anyone clicks. This probably won't happen until after the trade deadline though. If we move Hertl (because he doesn't want to re-sign), Cogliano, and Barabanov, there should be opportunity to do that. And if you're not looking to give them that opportunity, it's hard to imagine that they would be qualified to stay outside of Reedy at least.

I agree that Leonard has the highest scoring ceiling out of the call-ups. I’d maybe do like:

Meier - Hertl - Barabanov
Dahlen - Couture - Leonard
Balcers - Bonino - Gregor
Nieto - Weatherby - Cogliano

All I can say on this one is: God, that Reign team is stacked. This is my first time seeing them and the skill levels just don't even feel close.

I looked at the lineup and I think, realistically, only three of those forwards and one of those defensemen has a realistic (not necessarily large) chance to become an NHL player. Blichfeld, Leonard, Reedy, and Knyazev. The rest are marginal players or poorer prospects, and that group of four hasn't been great shakes either.

Out of last night's roster, yeah I think you've got it right. Blichfeld and Reedy seem like they'd need to be put in specific situations to succeed, as well.

Meanwhile the Reign came out with Vilardi, Fagemo, Frk, Turcotte, Thomas. They had Byfield up until just recently too. Also T.J. Tynan, who destroys this league (44 pts in 27GP). I would consider it an accomplishment to beat this team.

It's gotten pretty physical tonight, two big hits from Texeira and Onyebuchi on their stars, then Onyebuchi gets hit and has to be helped from the ice (edit: He returned after the intermission). Kniazev of all people dropped the gloves with Wagner after that one.

3-1 Reign after 1, Leonard with our goal:

8-5 final, Reign win. Barracuda goals by Leonard, Halbgewachs x 2, Holway and McGrew.

Chmelevski with two assists on his return, both secondary. Truth be told it really didn't feel like he did a whole lot tonight, but hey, points are points.

Seemed like every time the Cuda scored, Ontario would wake back up.

It is a shame nobody has ice time stats for this league, because I would love to know how much TOI Patrick Holway has been getting lately. Felt like he was out there for half the game.

I followed a couple of guys into the arena last night so suspect they are scouts (carrying tablet/courier bag -- which aren't allowed for fans).

Guessing even more scouts might be in attendance tonight.
