Strong game for Chmelevski. Hat trick on hat night, along with some good work on the PK.

Barracuda split the weekend series with Henderson. 5-1 Henderson yesterday, 6-3 Barracuda tonight. Team could use some reinforcements from somewhere, the only scratches tonight were Kniazev, who's in COVID protocol, and Brinson Pasichnuk, who has still yet to suit up this season. They played with 17 skaters yesterday.

Kniazev just scored his first goal of the season on a nice play. He’s looked good lately.

Gallant also scored his first earlier. 2-1 Barracuda after one period.

4-3 Tucson, final.

Lot went on in the last ten minutes. Tucson tied it, then quickly went ahead on what felt like a soft one given up by Melnichuk when I saw it live, his angle just looked all wrong.

Tucson then scored to make it 4-2:

So I could see Cicek making a gesture during play that Melnichuk was having an issue with his mask, but Melnichuk just kept playing as normal, gave up the goal, then everyone blew up at the officials. I'm pretty sure they didn't blow that dead because Melnichuk wasn't doing anything to get their attention.

Reedy then did some of his usual garbage collecting to make it 4-3, and that's your final.

Real good game, though. Barracuda host Tucson again Friday.

Couple things tonight:

Nick Cicek got hit in the face with the puck in the second period and went straight to the back, never returned. It looked bad, there was an immediate stoppage of play.

Kniazev got a 10-minute misconduct late in the second, I'm guessing for saying something to an official about an offside call. There wasn't anything obvious that happened otherwise to warrant that.

Leonard scored a SHG in the third and has been consistently playing a role as a shorthanded threat. So now, odd stat, the Barracuda still have the worst penalty kill in the AHL, but lead the league in shorthanded goals.

Reedy and Weinger scored the other two goals.

So this might've been one of our best defensive efforts of the year along with Harvey being brilliant tonight, but it's also worth noting that due to COVID issues the Roadrunners were playing with only 16 skaters, 10 forwards.
