Pre-Game Talk: Back-to-back part 2: Home vs Dallas

Let's hope!

The gauntlet continues. Let's see how the boys hold up against another hot team coming off yet another back-to-back.
Monty is due for a big game, and having Laine back for the PP should give us a boost. Dallas is red hot, so it will be a test for sure. if they can at least get a point I'll be satisfied.

Most of the last 10 games has already been a test. And the Habs has passed with flying colors. The next game will not be different.

While Dallas is on a 6 game winning streak, they're in a real soft part of their schedule.

They've beaten Chicago, Buffalo, Ottawa, NYR, Philadelphia & Utah. All bottom 10 teams except for Utah, who they beat in OT.

While this game is the 2nd half of a back-to-back for Montreal, it's the 1st half of a back-to-back for Dallas. They're in Ottawa on Sunday.

It's their 3rd game in 5 nights with travel (they're on a 5 game road trip), while Montreal just had a 3 day break.

I expect it to be fairly even game.

Montembeault will definitely be in for Montreal. I expect Oettinger to play for Dallas.

Discuss.

I suspect Laine and/or Savard will draw back in after resting and not traveling.
Hoping for a win as others around us in standings are winning. But going to be tough, Dallas on 6 game heater also. Hope Montembeault plays better than he did against Vancouver or Chicago

Spoiler Alert: This team will lose games at some point. Hopefully, we're witnessing a developing attitude that'll allow this roster to shrug off a bad game or two. In other words, I'm mentally preparing myself for a loss tonight...

I'm so proud of our boys. They've turned the entire season around thanks to a determination to learn, improve, and never give up. The positive attitude continues to trickle down to anyone struggling. Dach and Slafkovsky have started to come around. Armia and Anderson have found new life.

It's kinda funny that the Habs seems to be meeting the hottest teams lately. First it was Vegas, than the Avs and now Dallas.

I would say they had a disappointing game/loss against Chicago and followed it up with a big effort and win, so they can definitely do what you're describing.

For me, conversely, I think the next step in their maturation is actually showing up and putting a dominant performance against the lower rung teams rather than playing down/not being motivated to show what they can do against them.

Good point. But here's the catch: Because Montreal's the hottest team in the league, every team is now lower-rung by comparison. That means we're due to lose every game because we're too good.

Agreed. They need to take it to those teams. The game against Chicago was disappointing in terms of the result but I do think they played pretty well none the less. It wasn’t a severe let down I don’t think. A bump in the road.
That said, you are right in saying that they could stand to pick up a few “show of force” wins against lower tier teams.
