Jenner obviously thought he was snuffing out the issue, because the only thing he and Babcock addressed in their statement was Biz naming him on the podcast. There was a lot of post-podcast stuff that people keep ignoring. And people thinking believing Biz meant calling Jenner a liar, which is entirely the incorrect way of looking at it

Idk guys, i dont really expect gaudreau to throw his coach under the bus in the media.

The jennner joint statement is a tough one but I don’t think the Gaudreau one is fair.

He couldnt bury babcock at that point

At the end it is going to be a bad look or a harsh word... Mentally fragile players pretending to be professionals.

That's why Toronto core won just a series in a decade while Columbus will need to wait another decade to make the playoffs for the third time in 30 years..

Or maybe the NHLPA's job is to ensure their members are fairly treated. Which is the point of a union.

There is a mentally fragile person in this story, and its not one of the players.

Columbus brought in Tortorella after the nightmare year in Vancouver and it “worked out”.

They then decided they could do it again with Babcock years after the Toronto debacle. That’s my thinking at least.

It really was a totally unnecessary risk.

This is exactly like that famous book. House of Leaves.
I can't begin to describe how much I hated that book. It was recommended to me by a girl I was seeing. At one point I asked her what made her think I'd enjoy it and she confessed she hadn't actually read the whole thing, she had instead made the recommendation based on a single passage she'd read.

I worked so hard to forget that book ever existed, haven't thought about it in over a decade, and I'm mad at you for reminding me about it.

This guy has serious issues that he needs to resolve

Why he does these mind games with players is beyond me

They serve no purpose in what he is hired to do which is coach and implement systems.
He likely has some sort of a clinical disorder but the purpose they serve is to stoke fear and uncertainty to keep people on edge and motivated.

So I guess we can all agree now that Biz is a legitimate source and has connections with players ? Expected this from the beginning. No chance Biz was gonna gamble his post-playing career on something silly like making that up about Babcock.

Now there's more questions, CBJ management met with Babcock and released a full statement essentially calling the claims BS, saying it's manipulated misinformation etc etc. Reeks of a cover up attempt. PR stunt backfired, just a horrible look for the organization.

No room in the game for nonsense like that. I like that Jenner was defending his team but now it just looks like he was covering up for Babcock, doubt the young guys on the team are gonna appreciate his attempt to dismiss what actually happened.

I mean it’s summer, not officially camp I don’t think everyone is skating together yet. So it’s possible they all went through it but the younger players didn’t share their experience with Jenner.

I think there’s a report that Jenner got married this summer so it’s likely he had his meeting well before any of the other guys and might not have been in Columbus when the other guys had their interactions with Babcock.

I cannot believe I defended this guy when he scratched Spezza in front of his family. Lesson well learned on my part.

What a disaster of a hire for CBJ. Every sign was there and they went for it anyways.

This also should just about do it for his NHL career. Amazing he went to the Leafs as a probable Hall of Famer and here we are less then 10 years later, re-signing in disgrace from CBJ after being fired by Toronto.
He did something similar in Detroit, too, but I can't remember. Something to do with Modano I think. Scratched him in an important game for him I believe.

Never thought he'd make it through this. I still am interested to see what went so terribly wrong in the meetings.
From the latest sportsnet article

“According to multiple sources, one of the most serious concerns was a meeting that occurred away from team facilities that included “several minutes” of looking through a phone. That was beyond the scope of what was initially understood to have occurred.”

couldnt of said it better. even if you hate the two of them, you have to know theyre an already popular podcast, if not THE hockey podcast for alot of fans and players. they have nothing to gain by making it up. AND are much more likely to have player connections of a more personal level than the dorks like Larry Brooks and other journalists

It is pure jealousy.
