I think there can be some nuance here that isn't Jenner dismissing the young player's concerns or defending Babcock. It's entirely possible that Jenner got the same treatment but just didn't have an issue with it like younger players did.

I think it is entirely possible that the same thing happened to both, but the dynamic between a coach and a team's captain signed long-term versus a coach and a young player not yet in the NHL made the responses way different. It was an inappropriate ask in both situations but Jenner may not have been threatened by it.

Is it entirely possible, when you have information like THIS coming out:

According to multiple sources, one of the most serious concerns was a meeting that occurred away from team facilities that included “several minutes” of looking through a phone. That was beyond the scope of what was initially understood to have occurred.

I cannot believe I defended this guy when he scratched Spezza in front of his family. Lesson well learned on my part.

What a disaster of a hire for CBJ. Every sign was there and they went for it anyways.

This also should just about do it for his NHL career. Amazing he went to the Leafs as a probable Hall of Famer and here we are less then 10 years later, re-signing in disgrace from CBJ after being fired by Toronto.
At the time I thought he did it because he thought he was making the best lineup. And even though I disagreed with him, I believe his intentions were good.

Then as I learned more about Babs I understood it was all about the mind games. He did it because it was to be his first game and all his family was there. Maybe he did it to make himself the common enemy in the dressing room, maybe he had some other reason. But the guy can’t be a coach in the modern world

If Columbus wants to accomplish anything ownership needs to get rid of Davidson and Jarmo, two incompetent individuals who have done nothing their entire careers.

Friedman quote:

Maybe Boone Jenner should talk to his teammates before trying to put out the fire. Talk about being a bad captain.

Spittin Chiclets did more for the team than the CBJ 'leadership' who said no one would have a problem with it
So absolutely insane, it seemed so weird that he would actually be handling phones and thumbing through them. Definitely deserved. I was willing to wait due to the way Jenner and some former players characterized the process, but that shit is so bonkers.
I've handed my phone to my bosses on multiple occasions (I work in a trade and have to send/show them pictures of leaks/equipment nameplates/etc) but they aren't thumbing through it or have any interest in seeing my other pictures.

At the end it is going to be a bad look or a harsh word... Mentally fragile players pretending to be professionals.

That's why Toronto core won just a series in a decade while Columbus will need to wait another decade to make the playoffs for the third time in 30 years..

Expecting a basic level of fair treatment and privacy in the workplace is not being "mentally fragile". Some serious bozo takes here in this thread...

I can't begin to describe how much I hated that book. It was recommended to me by a girl I was seeing. At one point I asked her what made her think I'd enjoy it and she confessed she hadn't actually read the whole thing, she had instead made the recommendation based on a single passage she'd read.

I worked so hard to forget that book ever existed, haven't thought about it in over a decade, and I'm mad at you for reminding me about it.

That's funny because that's exactly how I found out about it. I didn't hate it but I felt like it was pretty overrated.

At least my ex actually took the time to read the whole thing.

The whole "cancel culture" talk doesn't even make sense because fans mostly weren't scraming for Babcock to be fired. You had just as many fans trying to dismiss these allegations based on Spittin' Chicklets having a questionable reputation. There wasn't an outcry from fans or media for Babcock to be fired, just because of how much uncertainty there was with the accusations.

Again, this is a union protecting its members. This isn't cancel culture, this is the NHLPA defending NHL players from being mistreated by coaches.
