Do you mean the progression of the 40 point guy who's gotten to play with superstars on the top line for his entire career? One of Babcock's greatest blunders was giving Hyman top line minutes and I expect Keefe will fix that once we are healthy.
ok , i'll bite. What will the lines be when Keefe decides to fix things after winning 65% of his games?

We have 3 better right wingers at least
Marner, Nylander, Kap
and
3 better left wingers at least
Johnsson, Soup, Engval

He gets the 4th most ice time of forwards.
The only guy I listed who gets more is Marner. It's absurd.
Hyman shoots right so he should play on the 4th line at best.

Well you have clearly thought about it...we can agree to disagree. If the wins keep coming it won't matter.

Babcock back to his old tricks:

• Marty Walsh and NHLPA Assistant Executive Director Ron Hainsey met with Blue Jackets players in Columbus, a meeting described by several sources as “intense.” On Tuesday, when the story broke from Paul Bissonnette on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, both the NHL and NHLPA initially were satisfied with the explanations from Boone Jenner and Johnny Gaudreau. However, it appears things changed for both later that night when information was received that some of the younger Blue Jackets were uncomfortable with what had occurred. That appears to be the major focus of the investigation.

Depends on the details right?

I mean if he's just got some big TV in a room asking guys to cast some pics to talk about what they did over the summer, I mean that seems like an ok team bonding type thing right? Don't see any problem there.

If he's standing up there saying gimme your phone and I'll choose what to cast, I'll just scroll past the nudies your GF sent, promise, well, not good.

I have a hard time thinking anyone decides as a bonding exercise I'll look through your pics and decide what to share, I think scenario 1 is more likely, but I suppose that the nature of the investigation.

imagine your boss doing that ...its very invasive.
a persons personal life is 'personal'
any company with competent HR department would fire any manager in any job that made that type of ask

Hopefully for his own sake it was just a “hey show me some photos of your family and any activities you guys have done this summer!” And not a “let me see your phone so I can scroll through your photos and learn what kind of person you are”.

Even that is weird depending on motive. To get to know a player and his family I'd be like hey why don't we go out for dinner together. I can meet them, take a group picture

Maybe he's doing this TV thing because he's bad with faces (like me) so it's easier to memorize faces and be on a first name basis instead of "Boone's wife" for someone he's never met? That actually make sense but they should have put that in the statement.

In MLB every umpire's picture is on the wall in every clubhouse, they want players/coaches etc to be on first name basis.

Babs likely saw it as an ice breaker with da boys .. unfortunately he is not best explaining himself ahead of time .. he is one of those million miles an hour guys who literally over schedules himself on purpose and runs between mtgs .. he can come across as over da top if you don't know how he works .. i am sure there were a few guys who he doesn't want on his team who he literally does not have time for as he has already made his assessments who he acted badly with .. those few guys called Paul and thats this story folks in a nutshell .. he will apologize and that will be it .. those guys who called Paul would have been cut anyhow and now they are done in Columbus

If it was me I would try to find out who they are and if someone fits a need for us try to trade for Pennie’s on the dollar

I don't scroll thru my wife's phone. I wouldn't ask to have a look at my best friend's phone.

This guy is just wierd
My wife refuses to look at my phone. I mean she'll ask me sometimes for info, I'll tell here can you just take my phone and look yourself and she says no, I will not look at you phone as a matter of principle.

God I love her so much. And yes, Babcock is just LOL weird.

Yeah I’m trying to think of a conversation where this could naturally come up but it’s difficult. It’s one thing to ask about someone’s family or marital status or whatever to try and get to know them better. Asking to see pictures of them in any context comes off as weird. “So John, you got a wife and kids? You do, well great. You got pictures of them I can take a look at?”

Maybe he just wanted to look at some sexy girlfriend pics. Can't blame a guy for that, can you?

Maybe he was going to ask one of the players to rank the girlfriends?

Pretty weird but you expect eccentricities out of a hyper-focused winning coach.

He's probably no longer equipped for the modern generation of hockey player nowadays whose parents spent $30k on power skating lessons by the time they were 15 years old.
